My S50 loses a signal after 15 to 20 seconds and won't come back.

I have a Sirius S50 and it used to work just fine. I didn't change anything and suddenly it started holding a signal only for a moment and the only way I can get a new signal is to undck it and re-dock then the signal comes back, but only lasts for 15 20 20 seconds.

Any suggestions, or is there anyone who works on Sirius radios?

Sam e exact problem, but has been occurring for several months. I have a 48-month contract so I'm not happy that I'm just throwing money away. I put on a new antenna about 2 months ago and it did seem to help initially, but performance quickly deteriorated again. I have to say I sometimes get 5 to 10 minutes of service and then I get the searching for signal prompt and I don't get service back--except fo 15 to 20 seconds at time--until the unit is off for an extended time.

I too have been having the same problem. I also replaced the antenna as requested by Tech Support. Worked a few days and is right back where it started from.

In the summer of 08 my s50 was working fine through the fm transmitter. I latter bought an in-dash car stereo and directly connected through the aux out input. Worked better for a while. But recently the service has been going in and out. In certain areas its fine, but it other areas its either choppy or no signal. I called sirius twice. First time they told me it was the software, so I checked and I have version 1.5.6. on my s50, which to my knowledge is the newest firmware out. The second time, they said perhaps the antenna was dirty or the frequencies was disrupting which I thought doesn't make sense since I got a direct connnect and dont use the FM transmitter. Honestly, I think that since the merger, reception problems have been steadily increases. Therefore there should be a another firmware update passed. 1.5.6 or a freeupgrade to a stiletto for those of us not receiving proper service. I'm calling again tomorrow. 1-6-09

Boy, this is bad. My s50 worked fine just 2 days ago, and then all of a sudden, no signal. The guy on the other end said that if the software update doesn't work, then I'll need a new radio. No mention of a discount or anything. Boy, will I be upset if I don't get a thing out of this. I love my Sirius, and don't want to live without it. I had to drive an hour yesterday with no satellite radio! What a waste!

I have the same issue too - does not work and the Tech Support said to replace the antenna, which from above sounds like it does not work permanently. The Tech Support did not even say that would do the trick. I am now suggesting to everyone I know that was once considering getting Sirius to NOT.

I've been a SIRIUS subscriber for over 4 yrs now and never have had such bad service. Both on the phone and signal problems. It seems over the past two months the signal has worsened. Throughout the day it cuts out four to five times saying "poor signal quality"

If anyone has a fix I'd love to hear it b/c technical support representatives at SIRIUS are about useless.

My S50 has been working for years and then a week ago it said acquiring signal and I haven't been able to get service since. I called customer service once with no progress on the issue. I am considering buying a new antenna, but I am worried that won't solve the problem

My s50 has always worked well in car and okay at home... until last week I lost all signal in the car. I checked the entire antena and it seems fine. I brought the unit in from the car and plugged in the home unit antena into the car dock and it worked fine as well, so I thought that it must be the antenna... I was going to replace it but then I got some reception back, but just enough for songs to break in and out which is worse than nothing at all. I like the idea of the free stiletto upgrade. While I'm writing, what the hell hapened to Boombox? That was my favorite channel.

It may be that the dock isn't working, I would return it for a new one to the place that you bought it from to make sure that you have a dock that works.

Sirius S50 sucks...and Sirius customer service sucks! I bought this radio less then a year and a half ago to never hear music now! I've spent hours on the phone with them...it would work somewhat for a day then nothing! They finally...after another hour and some change on the phone again this evening decide they will send me a new radio with a complimentary installation card. Great I thought...until I see the radio they are sending to replace what I have. Like they are doing me a favor...they are getting rid of their own trash, reconditioned out dated radio! Wonderful service...damn I can get any more sarcastic then I am at the moment! Let me tell you my plan...because I was going to cancel my service right then and there! I'm using that damn card towards installing the new radio the **** way but to also 'un hard wire' the S50 so my ****'s back in place...then I'll come home, take the half *** **** out, put it back in the box...ship the **** back and cancel my damn service. If they cared about this client...they sure didn't show it! If I treated all the customers I service daily this way...hell I'd be out of a job!

Sirius S50 "No channels available"

I had the exact same problem happen to me yesterday with my S50. My guess is that the software got corrupted somehow. I fixed mine last night be reinstalling S50 software via USB cable to my PC. Note: You need My Sirius Studio application loaded on your PC. Be sure to press Exit button on My Sirius Software Ap after you reinstall S/W. Patiently wait for S50 to 100% complete before disconnecting. Then, manually turn on S50 (while holding in your hand); do NOT put in car/home dock yet. S50 will then update S/W. When this completes, now you can put in dock. I don't exactly recall, but I think the S50 indicated the dock was being updated, then it defaulted to channel 184 indicating to call Sirius to subscribe. Since I already have a subscription in place on my S50, I just pressed channel 2 (The Blend) from my remote, and then my S50 began updating all channels. Success! I'm so happy my S50 is now working again! Good luck to others experiencing same problem; hope this helps! I can only imagine the frustration trying to get help from Sirius folks for this type of problem...

Sirius Receiver goes silent and displays Acquiring Signal.

I have a 3 year old Sportster 2 replay unit that worked perfect until 1 month ago. I posted my problem on this website a day before you did with this same problem. I googled to no end and even spoke to Sirius who wasn't willing to replace my unit at no charge since it was out of warranty. I found an unusual solution on the internet that worked for me. I place my receiver in the freezer for at least 20 minutes (this was recommended by a guy somewhere on the internet with the same problem). I have actually left it in freezer overnight too. This has solved my problem. It is the craziest thing but I thought I would try it before I resorted to replacing all my accessories and receiver since Sirius was less than cooperative with the issue. Anyway, hope this helps.

Sirius Stilleto 100 skipping issue

Usually this is a signal issue and it happens when recording indoors mostly, right? The signal dropps but only for a second or two so when you look at it its fine. you've probably notived it cutting in and out when "live" from time to time. Use your signal meter built in to the device and find the strongest signal location. If that doesnt work or its not the problem, update the software. If that doesnt work try running the recovery software but only as a last resort because you'll lose your recordings.
SIRIUS Device Recovery (SDR) is a software application that helps you recover your Stiletto (SL2, SL100 or SL10) in the event of a complete system failure.
The SIRIUS Device Recovery program retrieves the latest version of software for your Stiletto from the Sirius website. NOTE: Performing device recovery WILL ERASE the entire contents on your Stiletto: all music, Sirius recordings, channel presets and any user preferences. The Stiletto will be reset to its original factory state. You can perform the revovery from the Sirius Studio software that came with your device or http://www.sirius.com/mysiriusstudio

Sirus radio

I had the same problem and I replaced my car antenna. That resulted in immediate signal improvement. But three months later, the same thing. So, another dot micro car antenna. Three months later, the signal went out again. The home kit worked perfectly. In my case, I bought a Sirius outdoor home antenna and replaced the standard indoor/outdoor antenna that came with the home kit. I took the home kit antenna and connected it to my S50 car kit and positioned the antenna on the front of the dash. No problems since then. Not one. Those dot antennas are horrible. I'd check that before getting a new radio.

S50 stopped working

Perhaps getting a new battery will do it. RadioShack has some online. You could take you chances on eBay also. Also, because you have all the accessories for the S50, you could buy a new unit on eBay that is used.

Probleme s50 usb conect pc

You have to use My Sirius Studio as the interface to your S50 to add/remove MP3 songs. Depending on your Windows version (hopefully 2000 or later) you should be able to connect via USB and Windows will autodetect the device. My Sirius Studio is a poor man's iTunes where you have to add music files before you can drag them to the playlists you created on your S50. You can download the software from the Sirius web site, including the latest update. Keep in mind you have to disconnect the S50 from My Sirius Studio. You can't copy files to it and then unplug the USB cable.
