If its under warranty period then free of cost. Otherwise if LCD damaged then maximum charge 70 USD or 20 - 25 USD for LCD connection defected from inside.
Thanks.

LCD screen is blank in normal picture mode. I

This Camera has an CCD issue. It seems that the CCD of the Camera is gone bad. However, you may try resetting the Camera to the factory settings. If the issue persists, try power resetting the Camera. To power reset, remove the battery of the Camera and press and hold the power button for 30 seconds and reinsert the battery after one minute and check the operation. If the issue still persists, the service is required.

Hi....
Canon parts and repair service is excellent. All the parts of canon powershot is readily available in the market for reasonable price.

For your reference i am giving you the site where they take up these kind of problems.
the website is " http://www.mcvr.com/canon_powershot.htm#LCD ".

Replacing a broken or cracked LCD display screen:
  • Powershot A Series: $90 for most all models (a few dollars less on some)
  • Powershot S Series (S30 - S80, S100-S500, S1-IS, S2-IS): $90 for most models (a few dollars less on some)
  • Powershot SD200, SD300, SD400, SD630: $100 (the LCD for these models is more expensive)
  • All other Powershot SD Series models (including SD700IS and 800IS): $90
  • Powershot G2, G3: $90. Some other G series Powerhot models cost $10-20 more because of the higher parts cost.
The above price list is from the mentioned website.Hope my info is useful.
Bye.

Cannon will repair the camera free of charge and pay for shipping to and from Cannon, no matter how long you've had the camera or what your warranty status is. Canon Powershot S1 IS - Both in LCD and View finder - only blank is coming

Sorry this aint a solution. I too have the same problem as Mr.Gandhi is facing. I too bought this camera approximately 2 years ago.Since last cupla weeks, im facing this problem on a random note...I cud take a few snaps in between and upload without any problem but again the camera could not capture new images even with a set of 4 new batteries. Whenever i switch the mode to take snaps from preview mode (which is still working fine), the LCD or the view finder becomes dark with some blue colored horizontal lines appearing as if its because of some kinda interference!
