How to configure Tata Photon Plus with Red Hat Linux 3

With the above problem it is found in the internet that I have to install 'wvdial' and 'usbserial' driver in linux. So my question is where I will get the driver to download and how to configure the same with RHEL.

Tata photon plus 678 error code.i wrote AT+CRM=1 and restarted.now also it is showing same error code

Re install tata photon plus and then try again. First remove from the control panel and run setup wizard from your dongle. If it still not connects your modem to an internet then the problem is from your service provider then call him. He will connect your modem. I am knowing this fact because I have also tata photon whiz connection. Thanks for using FixYa.

hi...

many mobile phone companies don't provide drivers for linux.

But there is a software i would personally recommend to you. Actually its not a software, its a shell script.

Name of the software is "Sakis3g". It can connect to mobile phones and other mobile devices which can be detected by linux kernel. You can use IR, Bluetooth, even USB cable to connect to your device.

You can use this software for the following

  • connect to mobile devices by IR, bluetooth, USB Cable

  • Send and receive files between computer and device

  • Access Internet from Device by Dial Up Networking

  • Browse files on Mobile device

  • Mount the mobile device on a user specified mount point or communication port.

  • usually it mounts connected mobile device to /dev/rfcomm0. Through this port, you can communicate with the device .

  • Connect to USB Modem (Like Reliance DataConnect, TATA Photon, IDEA Netsetter etc.)

  • ability to connect to any locked/unlocked USB Internet Modems (Zero Devices)

fully automated connection setup. No manual input is needed except to specify connection name.

You can find more details and download Sakis3g from this address
http://www.linuxconfig.org/mobile-broadband-connection-and-sakis3g

hope this will help you to solve your issue.
