Hi i'm having trouble un muting the microphone on my laptop can you help . when i use skype i can hear the other person but they can't hear me .Somehow iv'e disabled the microphone and i can't get it back.

In Skype's preferences, it allows you to configure your microphone(s). I would check here to make sure it's working properly from within Skype. It's possible that you just have it muted. If it doesn't show up here, fire up Device Manager and look for the microphone there. If everything looks good in both places, it's probably a network issue, maybe you should try something other than Skype?

Try to determine if the microphone is working, check the microphone driver is installed and working.
Check the Skype audio setting and that your microphone has been selected.

Have you checked to see if you microphone is muted? Go on control panel, then Hardware and Sound, then Sound, then manage audio devices. Go on recording, click microphone, then levels and if it is not on high volume drag it so it is, the click ok. If it was muted, then this should have fixed the problem.

For you to un-mute the inbuilt microphone on your Laptop follow the procedure given below.

• Left Double Click on the sound icon present in the system tray. (Bottom left of your Screen)
• Un-chech the box for the MUTE option in the Mic-in Volume section.

This should enable your Mic and you the laptop will be able to hear you. Don't forget to rate the solution.

Hi. Try to check the settings of your skype account especially for the microphone. You may try using other microphones also just to check if the port is working or the mic that you are currently using is working also.

First check the volume mixer by the clock on your computer and make sure it is turned on. Also check the volume setup in Skype.

Your laptop may have a mute button somewhere close to (but not on) the keyboard. Make sure that is is not muted.

You can try this, it might be the problem. The microphone is by default, muted. The Skype program "should" un-mute it, but sometimes the notebooks mic is not fully compliant. So, to manually un-mute the microphone, go into the volume control panel by double clicking the speaker icon in the system tray. If the microphone section is not displayed toward the right, you'll have to activate it in the Options|Properties menu item. Put a check mark in the box beside microphone. Remove the check mark in the mute box under microphone.

for Skype, click tools>options>sounds> click "enable all sounds" if it is muted.
