ok first locate the defrost timer in the refrigerator compartment control box there should be a hole there that you can stick a screwdriver in a small one .Next after locating the defrost timer pull the cover off the freezer where all the ice is and leave the freezer door open.Locate the defrost thermostat it should be on one of the lines coming down to the evaporator its the alum honeycomb looking piece under the cover that you removed and the defrost thermostat will be a silver disc round piece with two wires clipped to one of the copper lines coming into the evaporator with two wires on it one wire will be power the other will go to the heater now here we go.With your screw driver slowely turn the timer clock wisr till the unit shuts off and you hear the fan in the freezer stop.Check your watch and note the time then watch the freezer side where the evaporater is to see if the heater comes on itll take afew minutes 5 or ten the first thing you will notice is the frost at the bottom where the heater is getting waterly looking .Then let it run for thirty minutes if it doesnt cut back on by then replace the timer if after five or ten minutes you dont see the heater on then turn off the unit at the freezer control and unplug the defrost thermostat or you may have to cut the wires on the thermostat and wire them togeather to by pass the defrost thermostat .Then turn the unit back on .Now if you by pass the thermostat and the heater comes on then keep watching the time if after thirty minutes the unit clicks back on then you have a bad defrost thermostat. if you do all this and the heater still doesnt work you have a bad heater if the unit times out and all the frost isnt melted just turn the timer around again till the ice melts when all the frost is gone if you had to by pass the thermostat then turn the unit off again seperate and tape the wires from the defrost thermostat till you can get a new one dont leve them in a bypassed state .

well it may have an adc adaptive defrost cotrol your model is just about they changed try this
    1. Disconnect the unit from the power

    2. Open the fresh food door and remove

any items on the top shelf.

    3. Remove the light shield and the temperature

    control housing (see steps 3

    and 4 replacing the timer).

    4. Connect the refrigerator to a wattmeter.

    5. Make sure compressor is running (cold

    control closed).

    6. Using an insulated number 22 jumper

wire short between L1 and Test; this will

put the refrigerator into a defrost for

    approximately 23 minutes.

Our chest freezer isn't keeping food on top frozen although the bottom is still frozen solid?

Most times this is a bad cold control, but there are other things to check for. Make sure the condenser fan is working and the coils are not covered with dust. A separated heat exchanger ( small capillary tubing soldered to the large suction line ) can separate from one another and make the fridge run too long. - tape tubing back together. A poor working evaporator fan motor could also make the fridge run too long and freeze - replace the fan motor. An inefficient compressor or refrigeration system could make the fridge run too long and freeze - have a service tech check this out. A misaligned control settings, make sure the air damper and cold control have not been bumped and are out of normal settings. Stuck open air diffusers or air dampers are becoming more and more common for allowing too much air to be blown into the fresh food section and freezing things. On all frost free fridge's the freezer temp air is blown into the fresh food section, if you have "easy" to freeze items ( eggs, veggies in water, etc ) in front of or under where the freezer temp air comes out, they could freeze - store them in a different spot. Doors not closing properly making the fridge run too long is something else to check for.

Hope this help in solving the problem....

How is freezer part of refreg best loaded? Full or partful?

Full is best but don't block airflow for the frost free function. The air must circulate. Once a full freezer gets to temperature, it doesn't have to run as often, since the frozen goods hold the temperature better than air would.

The refrig does not defrost. frost is

This is a serious problem which you have to fix as soon as possible. if you don't act , you will pay $200 for repair or $500 for a new one.
Are you ready?

Do you know what we call cable ties? you will need one. And unplug your refrigerator, very carefully, turn your refrigerator in the way you can see the back. . You will see a small pipe , very small going from the condenser( part from the compressor) just after the filter. See if you can put this small pipe in contact with the part who frost and with cable ties ( must be metallic) tie together. at two places. Problem gone forever . Enjoy and don't forget to vote for me.

Defected DEFROST HEATER can cause frost build up on the panel at the back of the freezer, and freezer stop cooling and ice frozen on unit so air could not flow to refrigerator side.Water will coming out caused of unbalanced freezing, and causing the flooding of water in the floor. You must change this defroster heater assembly so it will works normal again..

Hope this may help;

You might have a frozen line. Also and this seems more important to you its prob to cold, Trust me to cold of a refrig will cause hollow ice cubes first leading to a frozen line. Clean your coils, if you have another refrig empty out into that, unplug it leave doors open a couple days. If you can get to water line use a hair dryer from a distance defrost line, turn down freezer half knotch 1 full one at maximum. should fix issues, especially if filter already changed. If this all check prob a clogged line, not just frozen.
