Epson R260 ink cartridge problem (yes, with the genuine Epson ink)

Please help! I've ran out of solutions.

I have an Epson R260 and I never used generic ink. I just replaced the light magenta and light cyan cartridges with genuine Epson inks. HOWEVER, it's giving me this message that the light magenta is an incompatible ink. (No problems with the light cyan.) What??? But it's a genuine Epson cartridge straight from the Epson store! Now, I can't print anything. :(

Any ideas how to fix this problem? I've already reinstalled drivers, restarted printer, etc.

I bought Genuine Epson Ink cartridges for my Stylus 950 and they make the print blue. Yet like you I only buy genuine. I cleaned it and no joy. Replaced the lot with anothe cartrige and it works. Then put the duff one in and blue again. Looks like Epson have a duff batch?

I've just had this same problem. I only use the genuine Epson inks and now the printer says it doesn't recognize the magenta even though it's the right ink.
I can't bypass the message so I can't print. Help!
And my printer is an Epson Stylus Photo R260 as well.

Please do follow below steps
1) Inspect the contents of your CISS package:
2) Test the Printer
3) Place the CIS System on the right side of the printer with the color tanks
4) Remove ink cartridge holder lid and previous ink cartridges
5.) Install CIS System ink component
6.) Re-setting the ink cartridge
I got these steps from a manual and found working.

You need to check that they are the right cartridges for your area. I had the same problem, i live in Australia and we buy our cartridges from a stationary supply store and they must have got the wrong ones in because they say for use in Taiwan. So it tells you where they are for on the back in the top left hand corner of the box.

Why is power button light blinking green on Epson SX200 printer?

Regarding your recent inquiry about the Epson T071 ink cartridge error message ("Ink Light is red", "Cartridge Not Recognized", "Replace Cartridge", "Installed ink cartridge is expended." or similar cartridge/printer alert message) associated with your Epson SX200 printer, the cartridge probably has a mis-programmed smart chip...

NOTE: If you had the cartridge refilled, the cartridge chip must be reset. Re-programming, which typically yields a green light to show success, it does not always result in correct smart chip reprogramming. It is also possible they may have forgotten to re-program the ink cartridge. If a compatible/clone cartridge, it could be a reprogramming issue or defective chip (which is common). Or, such a failure could be an electrical failure of the ink cartridge itself*. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do from home....the chip(s) need to be re-programmed (at refiller) or replaced with a new cartridge from vendor.

*OTHER POSSIBLE CAUSES OF FAILURE:
Either the external chip or internal ink sensor is electrically bad (the internal ink sensor detects if cartridge is really out of ink). If you return the cartridge to your retail refiller and they re-program the cartridge(s) a 2nd time but the "replace cartridge" message, or similar blocking message persists, then this is the likely cause and the cartridge will need to be replaced with a new one.

1) Confirm if this is just a nuisance/annoyance alert (i.e. "non-genuine" cartridge ) vs. an actual 'unrecognized cartridge' alert (i.e. Red X's on printer display / Windows pop-up message). Please visit the following Inkjet411 support page which will help you delineate the difference: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=73

2) On some Epson printer models you may need to scroll thru the menu options AT THE PRINTER'S CONTROL MENU (i.e. right arrow key) to help determine which specific ink cartridge is actually causing the 'Unrecognized Cartridge' error condition. On the other hand, for general 'non-genuine' cartridge alerts, typically you can bypass these errors by clicking thru the acknowledgement prompts or via the arrow keys: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=1939

3) We suggest you remove all the ink cartridges, inspect the smart-chips condition (on rear side) and ensure there are no cuts/gashes or ink residue present on the micro-chip surfaces. To be sure we suggest you clean the micro-chip surfaces; click here to see 2 different pictures of this along with cleaning instructions: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=1939

4) If the error continues (following ink tank re-programming a 2nd time), then we suggest you install a new genuine Epson ink cartridge into the printer to verify the permanent PRINTHEAD is functioning ok. Here is how the PRINTHEAD works: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=2054

NOTE 2: Following refilled cartridge installation, your printer/computer may display an ink alert message such as "non-genuine cartridge" or "you have not installed genuine Epson ink cartridges" - these are COMPLETELY NORMAL alerts when using refilled ink cartridges. Press proceed/continue/accept/yes/OK to dismiss the prompt. In some cases you may have to scroll over using the arrow keys to dismiss the alerts. Additional alerts may be displayed the first time you go to print or copy - dismiss the alerts accordingly to resume normal print operations. For more information on Epson ink cartridge alert messages please visit: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=1939

-------------
CAUTION: Be advised, the use of compatible/clone cartridges (i.e. sold thru the internet from overseas) are known to be problematic and may cause printer errors or permanent PRINTHEAD damage (especially for 3rd party inks which contain volatile organic compounds or VOCs). We do NOT suggest refilling these types of ink cartridges.....refilling of Epson original/genuine ink cartridges is only suggested!

Epson T068 thru T130 Ink Refilling Services & Additional Cautions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jp575rE9y0Q

-------------

NOTE 3: If, after replacing the cartridge(s), with brand new Epson Original ink cartridge(s), is the only solution which corrects the problem, then you likely have a defective cartridge (internal ink level monitoring circuit), unrelated to the refilled cartridges. If, after replacing the cartridge, or cartridges, with brand new Epson Original ink cartridges, does NOT correct the problem, then you may have a defective PRINTHEAD (i.e. permanent electrical sub-assembly which the cartridges plug into). For more information please visit our support page which explains the natural degradation of PRINTHEADs over time: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=2934

Epson Sx415 New Cartridge,empty already?!?!

1. New original ink tank will dried for several times of head cleaning procedure.

. ....ran a nozzle check and cleaned print heads because it wasn't printing any ink on the paper.... ???
Nothing at all? If yes, problem is in the printer main board. Lost electricity to the head.

My epson R260 says Service Required how can I fix this?

Many of the Epson printers ink cartridges have a sensor that allow the printer and the associated software know when to replace the printer ink cartridges (even when the cartridges have ink within them) and/or when the printer needs to be cleaned. In some cases you can bypass this message by following either of the below steps.
Use printer buttons to reset
Use the printer buttons to reset the printer by pressing and holding the "Stop", "Maintenance", and "Power" buttons all at the same time.

My printer will not recognise non epson cartridges

ALL…. Epson & Brother Requires Genuine Epson Cartridges. !!!!!!!! How you were able to use generic is amazing. I was not able to do that!

In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. I also Purchased a Brother. That also does not like Generic Print Cartridges. Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, Blue Brown, etc. These printers have a CHIP that will detect if it is Generic or Genuine. When they see it’s Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors.

That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, and some are refillable. Some you can refill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.

So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. Some people say some models work fine compatible, but not mine.......

I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. Don’t waste too much ink in cleaning it.

TRYING PURCHASING GENUINE, and see what happens? This is the only advice I can give you. If you find this helpful, pls rate me.

Thanks and Good Luck :0)

Epson R280

Don't try to fix it. Put the machine back in the box and return it Epson for a new one. Do it before the machine is 28 days old or they will give you a graded machine.

The error can be caused by the cartridges themselves but best to get the whole lot exchanged.

Status Monitor says ALL ink cartridges empty

Using recycled ink cartridges in your inkjet printer is never a more economical way to do colour printing, unless you are willing to become a master technician on your particular product and have ready access to print heads and machine engine unit replacements, you will also need manufactures service software/website to reset waste counters/error codes.

It is expensive to print in colour full stop. Printing cost is at least 30cents inkjet and 10cents toner/laser per sheet

Laser b/w and colour is far cheaper per sheet, but setup costs are one time expensive but they are also a lot more reliable printing system.

Your machine will stuff up sooner rather than later when using non genuine consumable, and when it does it will cost more than the machines worth to even look for repair, so be prepared if choosing this road to purchasing a new printer every few cartridges if you are lucky.

If your using non genuine products and you want machine looked at by a professional the first thing you will need to do is install all genuine products in to your machine to allow correct fault diagnostics to be done, this is before any repair cost that maybe incurred.

Recycled/refills/aftermarket ink cartridge faults include – not recognizing ink, poor print quality, error codes, wont come to ready, erratic carriage movement, lines, waste counter issues and also paper feed problems, circuit board/connection faults caused by leaked ink .Not all faults are immediately apparent it takes time for the poison ink to replace that in the supply system then issues begin.

Cheap printing can be achieved using b/w lasers they cost less than 2 cent per sheet and have a brilliant reputation for print quality and dependability. Then if you need the occasional colour go to the shop, let them have the hassle, stress, time and expense of running the machines and the cost is still relatively cheap to you.

There are many consumers still printing with 10 year old laser machines, you would be extremely lucky to find a 3-5 year old inkjet.

If you must recycle well buy one that has already been proven to be adaptable to the concept, so that means go back to older units that went so clever.

Older Lexmarks, Epsons and HP were once easy targets, there was and is a lot of development gone into managing bulk ink deleivery systems, software has been cracked and parts can be sourced.

Inkmizer canon/epson bulk ink modified printers

Chipresetter be prepared for some frustrations and mess.

P.s. Most new machines come with starter inks that do not contain as much as new ones ussally 3ml instead of 5ml to enable cheaper selling cost, but also note that about 2ml of ink is in the tubes that run from ink carts to print head.
