When booting my NX9010 I didn't realize my smart drive was in the computer. It tried to boot from it. It changed something and now it takes forever to boot and the keyboard does not work right.
In the boot screen it says HP Eeprom has been reconfigured. Help!
Yes the problem is solved. I unplugged the computer and removed the battery for a couple minutes. Then replugged in everything and it is working fine. Go figure.

This grub loading error 17 means that the file system type could not be recognised you should be able to boot from a cd make sure the cd or dvd drive is enabled as the first boot device in bios
1. The PC has to support booting from a USB flash/pen/key drive. There may be anywhere from 1-3 items to change in the BIOS to make this possible assuming your BIOS supports it. Some bios's may refer to your flash drive as a USB floppy or USB zip. Of course there are exceptions, perhaps some are covered here. 2. The USB flash drive must support booting from it in general. 3. The flash drive must contain the boot/system files. 4. The flash drive must have bootsector area. This is done with special utilities. 5. References to "A:" drive lines in the autoexec.bat and/or config.sys files you copy to the drive after you make it bootable may result in errors. 6. You "may" have to format your floppy disk first in WinXP before you create a bootdisk as XP may "not" like working later on with a disk formatted otherwise. 7. Included below is a bootable ISO of DOS 7.1 which may be used with some of these methods if you do not have a 1.44 drive.
Remember, there are many things you can do which will make your Windows installation as well as your laptop unstable, or even make it so it will not boot. Try to get into your bios. Different computers have different ways to get there - some have it on the screen, such as "hit delete key toenter bios" or "hit f12 to enter bios" or some other key combination. I think you enter the bios on your computer by pressing F10 repeatedly while booting. You should get to the setup screen. See if your hard drive is listed. You should see a hard drive as well as a dvd drive. If your drive is not listed, either someone has changed your setup so it is not the boot drive, or your drive may have gone bad. While you are in the setup, if it is not already the first choice, make your dvd (or cd) drive the first boot device. If it shows up, make the hard drive the second choice. Then when you boot, the Ubuntu should load. Try not to make any other changes, as you can make your laptop unuseable.
At start up of computer start tapping the f-2 key until you open the bios.In the bios change your drive order so that the computer boots first to CD-rom.
