Question about LaCie Hard Disk 1TB Desktop with Hi-Speed USB2.0 USB 2.0 Hard Drive

I cant see my external lacie hard drive on my mac. Was part of an ethernet network and able to use ok by 2 imacs and p. All of a sudden not visible anymore.

Just contact www.lacie.com great support. their answer for my drive was to upgrade the drive version and to reboot the drive. Maybe the last thing is enough. For me it worked.

If necessary update driver http://www.lacie.com/nl/support/drivers/driver.htm?id=10156

Follow the procedure below to reset the Network Space to factory defaults:

Move the power switch to the OFF position. Wait for the drive to shut down.
Turn ON the drive.
Within about 3 seconds, flip the switch OFF and On several times.
Immediately turn it ON

If the light flashes quickly, the unit is resetting itself. Attempt to connect to the drive again after about 1 minute using the default username and password (by default, they are both admin.)

Hello,
for the product that you selected for your question, it is impossible for the LaCie Network Assistant to see it because it is a Local drive (USB).
The LaCie Network Assistant only detects the Network LaCie drives.

Hello,
this drive is mainly a Network drive. To use it with the USB, if you have a PC, you will need drivers that can be downloaded from LaCie. If you have a MAC, there are no way to use the drive with USB.
If you have a Router at home, connect the drive to it with an Ethernet cable and then use the LaCie Network Assistant to access it. It is easier.

Imac is not detecting my LaCie External Hard Drive

Do you have a CD disc software installer of your external hard drive (F.A. Porshe 160GB).? If you got it, you must reinstall it, so that your Imac can detect it. Otherwise, find it at the internet and download it.
The power failure could have damage some stored data about your External Hard Drive in your Imac. That's why, you have to reinstall it. Send us your e-mail comments for us.

The Mac OS can't natively write to NTFS (it can write to FAT32 however). But if you install MacFuse followed by NTFS 3-G on OS X then you'll be able to write to your NTFS drive.

Well according to LaCie's support when the power button is failing to work and the fan becoming inconsistent it is due to the power supply failing.

This is because the OS controls the power button and if it cannot boot fully because of a power problem, then functions of the drive are turned off, including the power button.

They are going to send me a new one.

try going to the manufacturer web site for the make of the hard drive
find a download for that model and select mac as the operating system\
download and run
