I have a Hitachi 53UDX10B that I recently replaced with a new LCD TV. I want to get rid of the Hitachi and will sell the parts (or the whole thing) for a really low price.

Not worth repairing,because replacing the DLP Screen cost about the same as a new tv.The Tv compannies the only one well sell u the DLP screen,but they have very limitted stocks,if they sell it to u the part and labors well exceed the new tv.

Using a zigzag foot, switched to 1/4" quilting foot. didn't change stitch to straight. needle hit the metal & won't work correctly.
Most likely it threw something off in the machine or locked up when the needle hit the presser foot. Unfortunately, it probably requires a service call.

No pictures showing anymore
sounds like the projection bulb went. behind computer monitors and lcd screens is a bulb that shines a light threw the screen to allow you to be able to see the image, try opening the unit to see if the bulb is on while unit is on, if not try shining a light threw the back of the screen to see if you can see the image. bulb may need to be replaced.

3 year old threw drumstick, and hit the screen small spider web at impact point and vertical colored lines lenght of screen
Unfortunately he has damaged the screen, the only way to fix this is to have the screen replaced, this can cost almost the price of a new TV. If you have home contents insurance you could possible put in a claim for accidental damage.

Sharp lc46d64u screen has vertical green lines
Unfortunately my friend, there is not a whole lot that can be done. Sharp has a great limited warranty, but it does NOT cover ANY problems due to physical damage. Getting screens replaced often times cost more than the tv itself. Save yourself the trouble of getting pissed off at sharp because they wont help you if you decide to call and replace the tv. Screen is black with a wierd splintered color
Unfortunately it sounds like you cracked the LCD panel. This can not be repaired other than changing the panel itself. I don't have a listing for the KDL-40S2000, but similar 40" sets have replacement panels that run in the $2400 range.
