Practical joker activated password on HP HX2795. How to recover?

Apparently some joker activated the password on my HP HX2795, with the obvious consequence. It didn't have anything sensitive in it, which is why I didn't have it password protected to begin with. So how do I get past the password screen ot reset the device so that it is accessible?

Hard reset instructions on the internet would wipe it. Might need software reloaded, so that may be unfortunate.

Ask HP? they made it, its super old and obsolete now. see my link below on the free manual
the manual covers this, why not just read it
or ask HP, first. the reset does kill all data.
there I warned you.

ask them and expect lots of head scratching, something this old

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/

my guess , take out both batteries,?
and then it lost everything, ? can be pain to find the reload files.
big pain after that.

these toy PDA are not fun.
here is what happens if the main battery goes bad and replace.
you replace it and all is ok.
but if the 2nd hidden battery dies
and you remove both batteries, all software must be reloaded. (RTM did you read the service manual yet, it tells you that)
so , where are you going to get that , now that HP ended support. sure scalpers and virus site endless....

why not just toss the toy in the trash
like 99.9% have, and get a used cell phone,
that has support. (or tiny note book from walfart for like $50)

RTM 14 year old relic PDA it is...
see the free manual here, ever read it?
read how to replace both batteries
and it gets 10x more clear how to mess up.
    clear as day.

    google 1st hit btw.
ever like google for a manual?
    read page 50
clear as day it says resetting the Password
    will erase all data.
    quote
If you have HP ProtectTools enabled and forget your PIN or
password, resetting the device will result in loss of data stored in iPAQ
File Store. For more information on HP ProtectTools, refer to Chapter 7,
    “Using Security Features.”
    end quote.

read the page there , how to reset the device
there is a button called reset device.
    in the manual, read it
then it says, in the manual you then answer keep the security feature? ,pick no.!
it has finger print option to and the 3 questions bs.
and now all data is lost.
if you have data, it is lost.

unless you can guess the PW
or talk to HP, ask real HP this.
some devices HP sells (vast) have back door pass words just for this , ATTACK.
ask them , ask HP, fixya is not hP
and fixya has no back doors to anything .

  • Anonymous Mar 06, 2018

no data, you said so reset it.
    end story.
amazing to me is googling finds the manual in 1 second flat. (try to be self reliant?)

Hi there.
Browse to your Windows directory and look for BtCoreIf.dll and BtSdkCE30.dll. Rename them both (for example: "BtCoreIf.old" "BtSdkCE30.old")
then do a soft reset, it should work.

I have a hp v220w 32 gb ,issues

If you can access the computer it was used on, there are a number of ways to undelete files from a computer, and the documents may still be accessible on the computer, rather than the USB drive which has apparently a password. This would be the best hope you have.

You could try every possible combination of passwords on the USB drive as well but that would require patience and time.

Just set up my brand new hp laptop ,password e.c.t. But now it won't except my password ,so now I can't open it at all.

Check to make sure that you haven't accidentally enabled either the numlock or CapsLock keys before trying to enter your password. (or they were enabled when you first entered the password!) Passwords are case sensitive. Some keyboards have alternative number entry defaults when the numlock key is active, so when you go to type letters, if the numlock key is active, you get numbers instead.

You may be able to reset the password from the HP recovery partition. Check your manual on how to enter the recovery partition. If you can get to another PC, here are some tips for recovering the password on HP laptops.... forgot my password for my hp laptop

My hp ipaq 2795 has recently started having static when playing mp3 files with media player using both headphones and the internal speaker while play files that were previously static free . the unit also...

It is, most probably, behaving like that because some application is taking too much processing power, hence, consuming battery, which, by its turn, heats up. Besides, active data connections are known to drain the battery very fast. Anyway, Google for Dotfred's TaskMgr.exe, copy it to your device and run it You'll see which application is taking more power than others.
Just my 2 cents... Carlos
