I have a fisher and paykel.  When it comes to the rinse and spin mode the machine just stops.  It sounds like it wants to spin and let the water out but it does not do it.  It goes through the whole wash cycle and then stops.  Please does anyone have suggestions...  It has been 5 days..  Thanks, Jane

My washer went through all the wash cycles and it stared beeping so i turned if off and turned it on again and went to rinse cycle and it makes this quiet humming noise like it wants to do something but of course it's not. Went to spinning cycle also to see if it would work and it didn't. Will go through the was cycles as many times as i want but not the rinse or spin.

I also experienced problem with my Fisher & Paykel washer getting stuck when it reached rinse mode. After reading advice to check diverter valve, I found this helpful video, walking through diagnostic and repair of diverter valve.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfJ1ZD4CV...
Useful to learn that list of diagnostic codes is available on a piece of paper hidden underneath the control panel.

In my case, I realized that there was probably ice somewhere in the drainage system. (sub-zero temps here in the Minnesota this week, washer is in cellar - i.e. has outdoor entrance instead of through interior). Running space heater overnight solved problem.

Check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean. There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit airtight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too.

I gave both solutions a fix-ya because the hose from the pump to the diverter was totally clogged with dirt. It was easy to remove the hose and clean and within ten minutes it was like we have a new washer(Fisher & Paykel GWL15). Thanks to both of you!

The diverter valve is probably broken, check under the machine, follow the black hose from the pump to the diverter valve, check the elbow on the end of the wax motor to see if its broken, if it is replace the diverter, no tools required.

I had a similar problem. Decided to try to check pump and outlet hose, but could not work out how to do it from these posts. The "Inspection Hatch" is almost useless - yes I can see the Water Pump, but that's about it. The hose runs out the back of the water pump then up to where it exits the machine housing (back top left corner). I managed to find a Service Manual online (http://www.angelsnz.net/ZL3SV/misc/F&P%20Service%20manual%20517735.pdf) and used this to complete the job. Machine back together, but it was a BIG job - Lid & machine top off, Manually empty water, Inner bowl out (really difficult since machine 20yo & drive spline did NOT want to come off - or go back on)...finally inspect top of pump. Very difficult to get to hose without upending machine! So I rigged up a hose and blasted water through the outlet near the pump in the bottom of the outer wash bowl.
This job was fiddly and took hours, but very do-able if you can read a manual, use a screw driver and have some trouble-shooting & problem-solving skills. Very satisfying when the machine 1. Still worked! 2. Emties water.

Oh, I found fur/hair/muck, a safety pin and a wire from an under wire bra around the top of the pump (in particular the impellor) - would have been there years! Also a reasonable amount of much was blasted out of the hose.

I had the same problem...pulled pump and discovered a plastic collar insert from one of my dress shirts was lodged in the pump.

Hi Dale..
It sounds like you have a leaky inlet valve assembly. The part number is 421029P and is easy to replace. You can get one here:

SOURCE: Stops before rinse cycle... won't drain or spin.

The REGULAR CYCLE button turns the drain pump on or off. The REGULAR LED will turn
on when the pump is on. This feature can be used to drain the tub. You could get a bucket and lay the hose on the fllor. Gravity will drain it down.

Spin the fan on water pump (you can acess with difficulty from bottom of washer) if it has a little sand in it, it may clear. It is possible to remove water pump if mechanically minded and see if something small eg staple or 5c coin is stuck in it if this dosn't work or you may find you need to replace water pump.
