So you replaced the sensor and now the light is back on, right? Have you checked the code again to make sure it's still the MAF sensor code? If so, you've got a connector or wiring harness issue.
erase code again , then disconnect battery for a few minutes, reconnect, see if code comes back. hopefully this resets computer. you don\'t have a reset button on steering wheel do you ? replace your fuel filter, if you haven\'t lately. maybe that will help.
any time a check engine light comes on it indicates a problem in the system. advance and auto zone will scan for free. alot of newer vehicles will set a code (lite on) if you dont get your gas cap on tight.
What is the code, you need to have a scanner hooked up to read it. That is your first step. (Some auto parts stores will read these for free, but will not give you a lot of information.)
usually a few start ups or mileage will do or go to an auto store some scan vehicles for free such as auto zone / advanced auto check ur local area and have them scan and reset trouble code
WELL I WOULD FIND OUT WHAT THE CODE IS AND THAT MAY LEED YOU TO WHAT IS WRONG WITH JEEP I THINK YOU CAN GO TO AUTO ZONE AND THEY WILL READ CODE FOR FREE IF IT IS SMALL EVAP LEAK YOU COULD TRY GAS CAP BUT IF IT IS ANY OTHER CODE ITS NOT GAS CAP
most any sensor going bad can cause the check engine light to come on,try disconnecting the posative battery cable for 15 seconds ,then put it back on,will reset the codes, or take it to auto zone, they will test your computer for codes at no charge to you.i had a venture van my was ox. sensor. thanks robert b.
The cap might need a pressure check. Just because it stays on and tight doesn't mean it is functioning properly. It must meet EPA standards to function properly. Your cap is special part of your emission system and if it is not working properly you will need to replace it and have the light reset. If you owed a code reader it would tell you the same. Auto zone does do free code reading. The check engine light usually is not a big problem,but... I will leave it at that.
