Question about Sterling Plumbing 1500D-31S VISTA PIVOT SHOWER DOOR

Problem with Sterling stem.when transfered to shower,still leaks

When I turn the starling stem for water to go on shower, most of the flow goes to shower but some water still leaking from bath faucet! I just replaced the stem but the problem didn't go away! is it possible that I didn't tighting the stemp enough? or what elese may cause that? Please advise. Sam

You did not tighten the stem enough, allowing the seat to rise just above the cavity where it will sit. You may also have scaling in this area preventing the seat from sitting flush.

The part # you supplied is for a shower door and has no bearing to your question. There is no relationship. However, I can say there is no adjustment for any two handle shower stem or even single handle stem. Very rarely will just replacing an "O" ring stop a drip unless it it from through the stem itself and comes out under the handle. When in doubt replace the whole stem...shortcuts will only exasperate the problem. There are no shortcuts in plumbing.

When faucet is fully closed hot water keeps on leaking.

You need to replace the valve stem. Turn off house water, locate and loosen handle set screw, remove cylindrical cover, and remove retaining nut to access stem. Take e stem with you to a home store or plumbing supply house for accurate relacement.

I have a sterling bath tub set.I just replace all new parts. The shower and the faucet run at the same time. I have hot -cold and center knob for shower.

Water leaks shere showerhead joins the shower stem

when reconnecting the shower head to the pipe coming from the wall..

did you use some pipe tape, pro dope or another type of joining compound?

this seems likely to be the problem.. if you don't have any on hand, visit a hardware store and ask their staff for pipe tape for plumbing and you should be pointed into the right direction.

Sterling like many others made many different types of faucets and stems. To service any of them you need to remove the handle. Then depending on the type of stem you can make your repairs. Most common Sterling stems were brass. Most common cause of slipping is stripped broach on stem and or handle. The broach is the star shaped part of the stem that the handle slides on. If it is stripped replacing the stem and or handle should do the trick. As for the tighteness of the stem, this could be the packing nut on top being to tight or stem may be damaged. Hope this helps. I changed the stem on hot water because shower leaking- now no hot water from shower head when water turned back on- wont pass stem and some spreay from where stem is?

I am not sure what brand of shower valve you have but it sounds like you lost a peice of rubber or plastic in the valve and it has either lodged in the diverter or somwhere from the valve to the shower head. Is it posible that you got the wrong stem or switched stems or maybe it was put in backwards. Wish i could narrow it down for you,Need better info.

Shower handle leak

turn off main water in home . turn on tap some where in home to release presser take shower handle off (screw under cap) unscrew the tap with a wrench unscrew on insides you pull out replace washer put all back togethere
