I have an Acer aspire 1640, the screen remains blank

I have an Acer aspire 1640, the screen remains dark and does not display anything. the power is ok

no the laptop does not appear to boot up nor can I see any LED flash.
can u help?

Does the laptop appear to boot up and the hard disk LED flash? If you view the LCD screen at a sharp angle, can you see a dim Windows image?

Try reseating the RAM, it may need reseating to make proper electrical connection.
If this doesn't work, take out the RAM and take it to your friendly computer shop to test the RAM to see if it is faulty.

Hi,

Try to connect the laptop using and external monitor if the external worked the problem is with the laptop. If not try to reseat the memory module also.

I have a ACER Aspire 1640 model ZL8 I replaced the battery and power supply. I plugged in the power supply to the unit with the new battery installed. the unit started immediately but went to a blank...

I'm facing the same prob ,system power on,cpu fan spin for 5 to 10 seconds n then stop.(system is still on with leds)no display or sometimes the acer logo only.
I opened the system n found the following Ic over heating
(24 U4 EC PC97551 (Power and I/O Connector)
24 is the number on service guide
any suggestions?????????

Ny acer aspire one only shows blank screen

The backlight have went out on your screen. I had this happen on an old laptop

I was messing with. Check the link below for some tips.

DARK SCREEN If you shine a light on the screen, can you somewhat see the screen? Does the laptop power up properly? (can you hear it running?) Hook up an external monitor to your laptop, does the external display properly?

Completely blank screen when power is on.

do a hard reset....remove charger>remove peripherals>remove battery> press and hold the power button for about 30secs, while batt and charger is removed> then plug in the charger only and turn ON!
