My Acer laptop, seem to have a heating problem. The fan stops randomly and the machine froze with over heat, I believe. It can't even load windows OS, and gets hanged even before it loads. Can anyone help me with this issue.
I had same issue. I took the fan apart and cleaned it out Still locks up while i was installing XP. I left the cover to access heat sink open then use laptop cooler to blow on it directly, then able to install XP. After XP was installed, the computer stay stable even with cover back on.

If it's overheating it's possible that either there's a problem with the fan, or the fan/heatsink is clogged with dust. If you know how to open up the laptop you can do that and use a can of compressed air to clean it out which may solve the problem. If not you'll have to replace the fan.
