Bought 42" Vizio HDTV 1080 1 1/2 years ago. Intermittant problem. Turn TV on, have sound, no picture. Vizio sent repair person out twice and replaced almost everything in TV. Still had problems so they replaced it. The replacement TV Vizio sent does same thing.? Any suggestions as to what it may be? Problem will start out slow. Only once in 2-3 months then progressively get worse to every other week then once a week. Repair people can't locate problem but it is unusual for this to happen on two televisions. We heard from another owner that this also happened to them.

The statement was not complete in the forum , hence I presume the LCD was damaged while it fell to the ground.
The cost of replacing a new LCD to a new set must be reviewed unless you are able to get one swapped from an old one.
that would be your Ysus board and could also be your Zsus board, if you puchased it from costco over 1 1/2 years ago you can take it back for full refund
I w having this same issue when watching a Blu-Ray disc. I found it to be dependent upon what picture mode the TV was set to. By this I mean certain picture modes would cause the TV to dim during dark scenes of a movie. Changing the picture mode helped a lot.
If the backlights for the screen do come on and you also have 12v and 5v feed the main board then it does sound like the mainboard will need to be replaced.
Tell Vizio send out the tech.to replace ur Backlight video inverter board,it dying go to be dead sooner or later.Or take the refurbished tv ur tv will have dead video soon.
It sounds to me that the unit has a faulty inverter board which could be due to an overheated/bulged capacitor. I would send in a claim on it to the factory if it is still under warranty.
I bought my 42" plasma Vizio 17 days ago and this problem just happened to me. We were watching and it just went off and it won't come back on. The tv clearly has power as the yellow light is on, but this tv simply won't come on. I called Walmart to verify I could return (I can) and they said they have two others that were returned sitting in back. I imagine this is going to force Vizio to do something soon, I can only imagine how many of these things are going to start failing in the years to come.
My 47" Vizio wouldnt turn on this morning.....had a similair problem 3 yrs ago.....this is what i did and fixed the problem myself.....apparently you have to reset TV. Here is what has worked for me. So unplug tv power cord from the tv. Hold the power button and imput button together ( located on side panel ) for approx 45 sec......plug cord back into tv. Press power button on tv and voila !!!!! Tv came back on!!! I have had my Vizio almost 5 yrs. But have to call the unhelpful customer service atleast once a year.... I hope this works for you :)
replace the main board
