I have a built-in Sharp Carousel II Microwave Convection Oven that I inherited when I bought the house. No manual. After working fine for almost 2 years after we bought the house, all of a sudden, it died. The clock also died. I checked my breakers - all appear OK. Other electric in that part of the kitchen is working fine. Any suggestions?
There are a couple of safety thermostats in the oven to shut down power if something overheats. One is on the magnetron tube (the microwave source), the other is on the cooking cavity. These sometimes go bad. There's also a power line fuse that may have failed, or become loose in its mounting clips. These can be tested with an ohmmeter; they should all measure very close to zero ohms if they're good.
Another possibility is that the control circuit board in the oven may have failed. I have worked on several Sharp ovens where the power transformer for the board has gone bad for no good reason. If the board goes bad the oven may appear to be dead as well.
Microwave servicing is best left to professionals. If you're thinking of keeping this one, take it to a service shop (or call for home service) and get an estimate. Then decide whether to repair or replace.
Hope this has helped a little. Thanks for using Fixya!

Had exactly the same problem, was the Fuse. It's replacable without removing from the wall. Unplug first! The fuse is connected directly to the line voltage, so if the microwave is plugged in, you will be killed. Remove center screw to take off the long plastic top vent, remove screw just above control panel. Control panel slides up and pops out, mine was sticky, but eventually popped free, don't pry. Make sure it's unpluged!!!!!! Look in, the fuse is a ceramic tube about 1/4" dia. and 1" long, to the left, about mid way up behind the control panel . My hand fit in, and I was able to remove and replace the fuse without disconecting anything internal. Be sure to use a 220V 15A fuse, not a 32V as was used in cars. Remember, you are touching bare parts connected to line voltage, if you get shocked, it's your own fault. Be sure to re-assemble before plugging back in, as microwave leaks are also dangerous.

The internal fan on my sharp microwave won't turn off..everything else works .I will cook something and hours later the fan keeps going...I finally just pulled the plug.
I have a sharp carousel 11 microwave convection oven and last night it made a lighting like sound and went off, i checked the circuit breaker and it never turned off ,checked the outlet with a toaster and the outlet was fine.at this time there is no power in the microwave, no clock and no sound. is there a local repair shop located in my area or is it time to toss it.
