Kenmore HE2 Plus Front Load Washer Logo
Posted on Feb 02, 2010

I have a kenmore HE2 dryer and matching washer. It is 3 years old. It works and eventually clothes do dry. It does heat up. But it doesn't heat up as hot as it used to and it takes twice as long to dry jeans in it.

Make sure you check your exhaust line and where the air blows to the outside. If your exhaust vent or hose is bent or restricted it will take a very long time to dry the clothes. Sometimes the vent flap on the outside exhaust is stuck shut. Clear dryer exhaust venting is critical for proper operation. Several companies offer a vent cleaning service where they completely clean out the exhaust lines.

Even on "extra dry" on Cotton or Perm Press settings, clothes aren't anyplace near dry when the cycle decides it's done. I always clean the lint filter. I'm not putting in more than washes comfortably in...

Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have nottaken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then youneed to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should takeplace. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causesfor your dryer to fail.

Kenmore elite oasis 110.7703 runs but no heat to dry clothes. I hear a whoos sound indicating the gas ignitor is working

Check the vents and filters first of all. If they are blocked at any point the air flow will be restricted and prevent drying.
The next thing would be to see if the heating element is working, whether it is gas or electric.

The heating elements could be bad and need replacing. In addition, if the dryer is not properly vented, clothes will take much longer to dry.
You should first REPLACE your exhaust hose if it has been on your dryer for more than a year. Not clean it out but REPLACE it. This not only prevents fires but also keeps your dryer at optimal performance.
Also, every 3-4 years, unplug the dryer and remove the back of it (it's just a metal panel, don't be afraid) and clean all the lint out of there. If that doesn't work, your moisture sensor may be slowly dying. If that is the case, you just have to run some loads twice. Using a pair of dryer balls helps dry the clothes faster so I recommend those too. Eventually, you may wish to consider replacing the dryer

Dryer is hot, clothes arnt getting dry. blower? less that 1 year old Kenmore

Remove the vent hose from the dryer and dry a load of clothes . If they dry , then dryer is pushed too far back , kinking vent hose , or the vent from the dryer to the outside is blocked somewhere . A dryer either heats or doesn't heat (except for maytag associated dryers ) in which the blower wheel could be stripped out . But Kenmores don't have blower problems .

2 to 3 cycles to fully dry clothes

if the clothes are warm after the cycle then you need to make sure the vent to the outside of the house is not plugged if they are not warm then it is in the heating circuit of the dryer wether it be the element or a fuse will have to be tested. to dry clothes it takes heat and air flow if you dont have one of the two they will not dry correctly

Dryer no longer has heat to dry clothes

The element gets brittle and breaks. The element is in the rear of the dryer under the dustcover.

Clothes smell like gas

STOP USING THE DRYER AND CALL A QUALIFIED SERVICE PERSON TO TEST ALL GAS LINE CONNECTIONS WITHIN THE UNIT!

A gas leak can cause a fire in your home. Although, we have always used a gas dryer, and the clothes do have a fresher smell to them than an electric dryer. Any gas which may be in the area would be consumed when the gas flame was burning as normally the pilot remains lit throughout the drying cycle.
