Hello,

The Power Supply Board is listed below. Please note, there are 2 models with the same beginning number (PDP4294). Verify your model number before selecting the Power Supply Board as each board is different depending on the model number.

SOURCE: Akai Plasma TV's screen suddenly went blank -model PDP4294

Same thing for me. TV just turned off one day and won't come back on. LED flashes red. Someone said it's because a cooling fan went out. If I can't find someone to fix it I'll take it apart and tinker myself. 32" with dvd built in was barely over a year old.

SOURCE: Akai TV repeatedly turns off and on

Yeah. I had the same problem. About 1 month ago my AKAI PDP4273M1 TV began turning off...then on. I happened to stumble on a temporary solution. I held one of the buttons down on the t.v. without letting go...and what do you know....the tv stayed on. So I rigged it to where the button (the "source" button) stayed in and I stuck a small object into the hole next to it (a small nail in my case). The catch is you have to use the remote becase none of the buttons on the tv work. Wonderful...so...I got that fixed and then today my picture gave out about 75 percent. What a Piece of S%#* TV. That is all I can say. My 2 1/2 year old TV is a POS and is going into the dump. Can you say hello to a new VIZIO. Hope that helps. Remember. NEVER BUY AKAI TV PRODUCTS AGAIN!!!!!

I have a panosonic plasma 42 inch tv. After a storm all I get when I turn it on is black and white static but all the menus display fine

Look to see if the rear video/audio inputs work (DVD etc) and if they do the damage is at the tuner in the set (nearby lightening can discharge into the cable or wires for signal.)

If using a box (cable or satellite) it may have took the hit.

A good idea if lightening storm is to not only unplug set (static discharge can come in via the power cord also) but disconnect signal source from set.

I have in extreme cases seen a nearby strike get in via the power lines and destroy almost every appliance plugged in even if not on.

Check to see what input setting the tv is on. It could still be looking for a signal from the pc input connection and no pc is hooked up thus getting no signal. Have the device you are trying to display on the tv connected and turned on and cycle through the inputs on the tv until you get a signal.

It might have been blown out by the lightening storm. that happened to two of my tvs that were plugged in during a lightening storm. they both, and two dvd players, would not work after, but the ones that were not plugged in were fine. You should unplug your major electronic equipment during a storm, unless you have a power surge plug/equipment.

Dell plasma 42 inch

fot the most part, you have solved your problem (pow bd), The main bd may also need to be replaced as well. The is a signal upon powering up the system. the pow bd communicates with the signal board. The signal bd, also is responsible for ALL of your additional I/O lines. Between the two of these, + a firmware update, i think the tv will be just fine.
