Hi
I have looked it up for you and what I found is.

Title:
I replaced my ink cartridge, but the LCD is still displaying "Ink Empty". What can I do?
Description: This is typically caused by an incorrect selection made during the LCD prompting after a cartridge is replaced. When an ink cartridge(s) is replaced, the LCD will ask, "Have you removed Blck? 1 Yes 2 No". This question will be asked for ALL 4 colors in sequence, regardless if the color was replaced. If "1 Yes" is NOT selected for the color(s) that was replaced, the LCD will return to "Ink Empty". Do the following to clear the message:

  1. Pull the scanner cover release lever located below the control panel and lift the top cover.

  1. After 15 seconds, re-close the top cover and then re-close the control panel cover.

  2. The LCD will then display Have you removed Blck? 1 Yes 2 No.
The LCD will display this question for ALL 4 colors (not just the ones replaced). BE SURE to select 1 YES for each ink cartridge that was replaced.
If 1 Yes is selected, the LCD will then display Change to new (color)? 1 Yes 2 No. Again, BE SURE to select 1 YES.
Note "Change to new (color)?" will only appear if 1 Yes is selected for "Have you removed (color)?" If 2 NO is selected for the "removed" question, the LCD will then move on to the question for the next color.

NO BLACK INK COMING THROUGH ALTHOUGH I HAVE CHANGED THE CARTRIDGE TWICE

It needs a new print head. Brothers are notorious for this issue. Especially if you are using generic ink and not Brother branded.

Mfc-620cn prints all colors but black. went through clean process several times. any suggestions?

It seems simple enough, but this is one of the most effective ways of fixing printer cartridge error. Mostly, printer cartridge error occurs when the printer head is unable to identify the cartridge properly. And the basic reason behind this is that the cartridge is improperly attached.

To reattach the cartridge check the following steps :

turn on the lid of the printer and then remove the cartridge from the printer head.

Check the cartridge to make sure that there are no scratches or other damaged parts that can contribute to a printer cartridge error report.

Take note that the cartridge should not be left open for more than 30 minutes; otherwise the ink will start to dry up and the cartridge will get clogged.

It tells me the cartridges are empty, then when i open the lid it says no cartridge! its not been used for a few months, and i refill them with generic refills...any thoughts? tried the switch off and on -...

Hello ,

Start by opening your ink cover and read the LCD screen; this will alert you as to which ink cartridge is not being recognized; make sure the cartridge that it is telling you is empty has been changed.

If the unit is still not recognizing the cartridge you have changed, follow the steps below.

  1. Unplug the power cord for the printer unit.
  2. Open the ink cartridge cover and remove all ink cartridges.
  3. Close the ink cartridge cover.
  4. Plug the power cord back in.
  5. Reinstall the ink cartridges.

Make sure that your ink cartridges are full and that they are genuine brother inks; refills or generic ink cartridges are not guaranteed to work properly.

Thanks,

Pat

I have a brother MFC-490CW and replaced the black ink, and my color ink has run out. It will not let me print as it says ink is low, so it won't even let me use the black? How do I print with only using...

By design, Brother printers stop all printing when one of the cartridges is empty. This is done to avoid cleaning cycles sucking air into the system, which could possibly damage the printhead.

Even if you print in black only by changing the print settings to "Mono" or "Grayscale" to avoid printing in color, cleaning cycles would still **** air from the empty color cartridge because they are programmed to clean ALL the ink nozzles. The only way to continue printing is to replace the empty ink cartridge(s).

After replacing the empty color cartridge, you could print in "Mono" or "Grayscale" to make better use of just the black ink.

Problem with my Brother MFC 210C Printer won't print the colors.

Check your ink cartridge if they are properly installed.

Check your print settings.

Make sure your ink cartridge are not empty.

Replace your ink with the original Brother ink cartridge.

Ink well cleaners

There is a design reason why the print heads are changed when you change an ink cartridge is changed. The print head isn't made to be reused and the quality of your print will suffer at some point if you reuse the same print head 6 or 7 times. I would get new cartridges and be happy with the print quality that a new cartridges will bring.

Brother MFC 210C All-in-One Ink Cartridges

near empty message is a reminder: plz buy a new cart (but do NOT change until EMPTY). You still can print.

the ink left in an empty cart keeps the system alive when some ink is neede for the automatic cleaning cycle.
If you print until this cart is really empty air will get into the tubes and ph. That leads to faulty printings.
brother had made sure that the amount of printable ink can be consumed. The rest is for service.
