Hi
· It is called the Cold reset
A cold reset resets the values of permanent storage variables back to factory default. Often this is
necessary for clearing the HP MFP Digital Sending Server IP address.
The following items are cleared during a cold reset:
● Embedded Jetdirect IP address
● SMTP IP address
● LDAP IP address
● Embedded Web server password
● All control-panel configurable items
The following items are NOT cleared during a cold reset:
● Local address book e-mail addresses
● Real-time clock (date and time)
● Page counts and maintenance counts
● Product serial number and formatter number
● Service ID
● Event log
To perform a cold reset
1. Turn off the digital sender.
2. Turn on the digital sender.
3. While the product is performing its memory count, hold down the #6 key. When the three status
LEDs are illuminated, release the #6 key.
4. Press the #3 key four times until the display shows COLD RESET.
5. Press the #6 key once to initiate the cold reset. The product will continue its boot-up sequence.
.

Reset your router back to it's factory settings by holding the reset button for about 5 seconds. I have provided a list of the most popular router brands. If it does not work you may need to google what your specific model's default IP address/default username/default passwords are, for example search for "Encore ENHWI-2AN3 default IP address" The default login info can change, it can depend on where you obtained your router. If you purchased it yourself from a store then the standard defaults should work. If you obtained your router from your Internet Provider you may need to contact your service provider. It also may depend whether it's an old or new model router as well. And you may need to press and hold the reset button on your router several times before it actually clears. Make sure you have a wired connection then once you have accessed your
router simply run the Setup Wizard. Set your SSID as something you'll remember like "Mavericks Network" and your Password can be something like your phone number for example 3109876543

I cannot access the d-link admin page (192.168.0.1).

Default from factory would be:

User name: admin

Password: password

If this does not work, someone has set up a new password on the system. You will need to reset the router by pushing in the reset button on the back of the router. This will reset the router back to factory defaults (i.e. no encryption on the wireless, default password, ect). so you will need to set these items back up.

it sound's like someone hacked into your router, I would try resetting the device back to default. You can usually do this by holding the reset button on the router down for about 15 seconds.

After that is done, I suggest you change the default admin password. Most likely you left the admin password on the default and someone went in and changed your settings.

How can I find or reset my password for my netgear.

The default login information for that router is

Username = admin
Password = password

If you or someone else changed it from the default information though, then you will have to reset the entire router back to the default settings.

You can do that by finding the reset button on the back of the router (it is a small button in a pin-hole).

Using a ball-point pen, press on the button and hold for 30sec. This will reset your router to the factory defaults and the login information I posted will work, but you will have to input all of your router information again.

I hope this helps. If not, please comment back and let us know!

Router locked. Cant remember the password.. User "root"

Hi,
The only solution for u to login in to the router is to reset the router.

1.If you forgot your password, you must reset your router. Unfortunately this process will change all your settings back to the factory defaults.

2.To reset the router, locate the reset button (hole) on the rear panel of the unit. With the router powered on, use a paperclip to hold the button down for 10 seconds. Release the button and the router will go through its reboot process.

3.Wait about 30 seconds to access the router.

4The default IP address is 192.168.1.1. When logging in, type in the default User Name “admin,” and the
default Password “admin” then click on the OK button to access the web-based manager.

Forgot linksys password

Reset your Linksys router back to default:
The easiest method of resetting your Linksys router’s password is to reset your router back to the default factory settings. This is done by simply holding down the reset button located on the back of the unit for at least 30 seconds. Once the router has been reset, it must be reconfigured. Using your web browser go to URL address http://192.168.1.1. You will then be prompted to login to your router. A log-in screen asking for the password will automatically appear. At this time enter the default password “admin”, in lower case letters into the password field. The username field may be left blank at this time. (Note: both the default username and default password are set to “admin” on some of the newer Linksys router models).

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Was given a linksys wireless-g router, model no; WAG54G ver1.2, have no software or installation instructions an wonder if you can help. thanx

If the router was previously used, you need to set it back to defaults. There is a red (recessed) button in the back. Hold the button down for at least 10 seconds with the tip of a ball point pen. This will reset your router back to factory defaults.

Defaults:
Username/password: admin/admin
IP address: 192.168.1.1

You can download the manual in PDF format here or directly from Linksys here

Hope this helps - remember to rate :)
