Dell sound problem

if you are using on bored video, then its very possible that their is something wrong with your monitor, if your using a video card, and its the same video card you used on your old mother bored, then its probably the video card.

if the back of the computer has 3 jacks colored either red, blue, pink, or green, then it has a built in sound card.if not, then it requires a sound card. You can purchase a usb sound card if you are not comfortable installing a sound card inside a pc.

You cant.. Unless the nvidia card you added has two video OUTs. Plugging in a aftermarket card causes the motherboard to disable the onboard video..
If your nvidia card has two "outs" then you can use two monitors... most newer nvidia cards support this. sometimes it requires an adaptor, but usually it was included in the box

This is a video driver issue.Not to worry.
Install the dell Video driver from the support site : www.support.dell.com

OptiPlex GX260 can be Small Form-Factor, Small Desktop or Small Mini-Tower. Compatibility with PCline 5.1 PCI depends on the profile of the PCI Card and the Profile of your OptiPlex.

GX260 Small Form-Factor is compatible with Low-Profile PCI Cards only. GX260 Small Desktop and Small Mini-Tower are compatible with standard PCI Cards. (Small Mini-Tower however uses a PCI Cage).

From here you visualize the 3 form factors. Also there is info and steps to install PCI cards.

NB:
1. Generally, upmarket PCI cards are standard height. Some manufactures supply a metal piece to allow it to be used in Low-Profile or Standard Profile.
2. Driver software needs to be installed after the hardware is installed.

I am afraid Dell OptiPlex GX260 has no support for PCI-e.

You can however install a half-length AGP (66MHz) graphics card.
