Printer making loud clicking/clunking sounds

There's a loud clicking/clunking sound coming from my Samsung printer (CLX all in one scanner, copier, printer). Any documents printed or copies are smudged but it still scans ok. Any ideas?

Sounds like the problem I had where the plastic gears that drive the roller on one of the the toner cartidges are broken.

Your gunna have to take it to a repair shop or send it back where ever you got it. If they won't take it might still be under Samsung's warranty.

My Samsung scanner says "Scanner Locked" What does this mean. It makes a loud clicking noise like it is about to breakdown. [email protected]

If you look into the paper output of the printer you find a green lever. Pull it to the front. Open scanner lid and check the position of the lever.
Restart printer by switching off and on again.

I get a clicking sound when I am printing. It doesn't seem to affect the printing process though. The clicking is not consistent but happens enough to cause some concern. The clicking sounds as if it is...

Try this, Susie: Check to be sure all four toner cartridges are pushed all the way in. If not, the little gears don't quite mesh properly and cause that loud click. On mine, the black cartridge needed an extra bump with the side of a fist to get it to go in that last half a millimetre. After that the clicking stopped.

Hope this helps. Scott

Scanner locked said my little screen of my printer Samsung CLX - 3160 FN

There should be a lock icon either on the side of your scanner or underneath the bed look for it and make sure its unlocked.

Samsung 3160N - clicking sound but printing okay

Check the toner cartridge make sure it is all the way in. Also full out all those toner cartridges and check the gear that rotates when you print see if there is no broken teeth. This happens on mine too.

Samsung "scanner locked"

I went through the same thing! It drove me nuts, and I even calls CS, which is great by the way. The sweet girl on the other line couldn't figure it out, but I finally Googled it.
In the opening where the printed pages come out, if you put your hand in there, on the top left is a lever.
This is the scanner lock. Once you flip the lever and hit the stop/clear button, it should be all better. At least that is what worked for me!

Samsung CLX-3160FN "scanner locked"

Every Samsung multifunctional device has a scanner lock underneath the glass. This is to prevent scanner damage during shipment. Th user's manual in the CD and the unpacking sheet clearly illustrate where this lock is. If you open the top lid and look to the lower left corner of the glass, you will see a small lock-open/lock-closed symbol. Underneath that symbol you will find the lock. I'm including a small visual reference of a similar model. Just remember to turn off and on the unit after the lock is removed.
