Unable to download and install yahoo messenger 10 because of firewall settings. what settings do I need to adjust? thanks

Go to Start>Control Panel > Add or remove programs remove all the things related yahoo ( Yahoo toolbar, Yahoo mail advisor, Yahoo installer, Yahoo browser plus etc.) Try download and install then....If still same try download offline installer http://download.yimg.com/ycs/msg/dl/msgr10/us/b4/msgr10us.exe
if still you are having difficulty download old version like Yahoo messenger 8 or Yahoo messenger 7

The issue lies in the Firewall settings. The Windows Firewall has blocked the Application from connecting to Web Servers. You must have to unblock it to get the problem resolved. If you have a Anti-Virus Firewall, reconfigure it, this will erase the Firewall's rules and will ask again that do you want the application from connecting to internet. You allow it and then it can download.

This could be a possible that you have set the firewall to block some download and pop-ups on a certain port.

better to re-configure again your firewall settings again to do so..

Anyway if you want a YM exe and not to download it, I have here which you don't have to download the installation, and all you need is to install it and use it.

have tried to tunr off the firewall and have you tried to install the yahoo..try to turn off the firewall and try it and if its not working means and if you have the firewall cd means you cann uninstall it from add/remove programs and you can reinstall it.

I tried to solve this. I went through alot of forums. I uninstalled Yahoo messenger and tried installing new one. I downloaded and pressed "Run as an administrator" when i got this response

"Yahoo messenger is unable to download files needed for installation Please check firewall settings and retry installation."

I did the following:
Turned of Windows Firewall( Search )
Uninstalled Yahoo messenger
Downloaded New One
Used CCLEANER to clean the computer. Download CCLEANER from www.filehippo.com

Then I checked INTERNET EXPLORER:

Tools->Internet Options->Connections->LAN Settings -> Click on Automatically Detect Settings (Unclick everything else except this option) ->Apply -Ok

Check if www.yahoo.com opens in Internet Explorer.

Now Install Yahoo Messenger.
It should work.
