Why cant i connect my dlink

Forget the D-Link drivers!!! I suffered with this same DWL-G630 issue for two years, trying different settings, reloading drivers, all with no solution. My card kept dropping it's connection, or wouldn't connect at all until I removed then replaced the card. Finally, I read on another forum this card uses the same chipset as an ASUS card, and to try the ASUS drivers. I downloaded and manually installed the drivers from here:

ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/lan/wifi-g/wifi-g.zip

Unzip it, but DON'T run the setup.exe file, because it will try to install the ASUS program. If you open the unzipped folder you will find another folder called "Drivers". Just use your Network Settings (from your Control Panels) to manually update the driver of your DLink card, and navigate to the Drivers folder just mentioned. Reboot -- you'll probably have to reconnect to your access point/router one last time, but that's it! It's good as gold after that.

I was used to losing connections 5-8 times PER DAY (I'm 15 feet from the router!) and now I've been connected non-stop for two weeks and counting!!

How to change (or update) wap to wpa encryption on ASUS WIFI-B Network Adapter

With this Asus wireless B adapter even the new driver dont support WPA wireless security , because right now sicne WPA is a much newer and higher type of wireless encryption only some wireless B adapter supports that and sorry to say this wireless adapter that you have don't support it even with the latest driver so it will be better to get a new wireless G adapter that supports WPA 100% , you can get the wireless adapter from Asus or from other wireless device manufacturer like Linksys, Netgear. Dlink and Belkin....

System do not reconize the PCI card

Does it ask for a driver to be installed? Or have you got the wireless version of the mobo that needs an ASUS WiFi-b add-on card with an omni-directional antenna?

Like on the previous version of the mainboard, the PCB contains five PCI slots and an exclusive WiFi slot, in its left part. By the way, when you install the original WLAN card from ASUS into this slot, the last PCI becomes unavailable. Now let’s examine the card, too.
wifi-s.jpg
The card supports the wireless networking protocol IEEE 802.11b, describing data-transfer rates up to 11Mb/s. Using the software that accompanies the card, you can use it in the Ad Hoc as well as in the Infrastructure mode, and the card can perform the functions of a programmable access point, providing connections to 31 clients. Thus, the owner of the WiFi-b kit can easily deploy wireless networks and connect to existing ones.
