Shadows and Ghosts on the Screen

The monitor has shadowy dark streaks, lines and ghosts of windows showing faintly on the screen. When the screen is white, you can't see these. When the screen is dark blue, the lines are quite noticable.

The screen is not dirty and there are hardly any dead pixels.

This may help....SIMPLE ! The "shadowing" you talk about is due to cables in back of your computer, touching or too close together. I had this happen to mine. I moved the cables apart, and no more shadows !! Sounds too easy, but it works. Takes a few seconds. Immediate results.

Plugged up display via the VGA cable to an HP dv6000 laptop; the Acer powered up and displayed fine ... however, noticed a faint waving motion in the picture, as if the screen was literally gel and began to wave, from top to bottom as it appeared. Best I can describe it ... any suggestions as to why? I only connected it to this HP to try it out, I ordered it from newegg and wanted to make sure pixels werent dead on arival. I will be getting an Aurora 7500 (Alienware): AMD X2 6000, Windows Vista Premium, 2GB RAM, GeForce 512 8800GT, SLI ready motherboard ... I heard good things of Acer and hoped this display would look great with my soon-to-come setup and im sure it will. However, just nervous it will do this on my Aurora. Any help or suggestions would be beyond appreciated!!

There are shadows or ghosts in the picture

This is normally caused by bad grounds in the cabling. Check or replace the cable. Also check your manuals and be sure the cables don't have to be terminated

cREATE A 1200X1600 100% WHITE .GIF TO USE AS A SCREEN SAVER. (IN WINDOWS YOU CAN ADD IT TO MY PICTURES SLIDESHOW)

Set this slide show to run after 2 minutes of non use.
Set the nonitor to power off in a short amount of non use.
say 15 minutes.
Do that for a couple of days and the ghosting affect will go away . You can then turn to a more reasonable screen saver.

Floating lines in picture

"Floating lines" usually caused by bad cable signal. Try playing a dvd or tape. If lines are gone, tighten all cable connections. If lines are there, you could need convergence repair if any colored shadows or ghosts are visable around on screen lettering. Hope it's some help anyway.

Ghosts on my tv

if you can, try hooking up the tv to a different cable line in the house or bring a different tv into the room where the bad picture is [ you may have a bad connection or wire ] if this doesn't help, try rabbit ear antennas just to get a picture. if you still have ghosts on your tv, the problem is with your tv.if the picture is fine, there maybe a problem with your cable service.
hope this helps
