The projector started flashing a slight purple color in the top right corner. The rest of the picture display's fine. We checked the bulb and it is fine, the lens is okay as well. Any clue on this one?
What can we do about color decay? Is it just something I need to take it to a professional about or is it as simple as a bulb replacement? What can we do about color decay? Is it just something I need to take it to a professional about or is it as simple as a bulb replacement?

Its the dlp/dmd chip going and soon will look like the star screen saver on windows 98. it will need replacing. they start with one or two dead pixels then it spreads. ref only->https://www.replaceyourlamp.co.uk/projector-lamps/nec/np-u250x/dmd-chip-1076-6439b/dlp-dmd-chip-1024x768-pixels-model-b.html
Thats call keystone. That happen when projector is not properly align with screen. Most of projectors come with digital keystone corrector in the menu settings. Ensure is setup to 0 and check lens of the projector is at the center of the screen. Also if the projector is too high or too low will cause that problem too. Just move it arround until you find the right place to mount it. Best of luck
the colorwheel is collapsing and needs replacing. it's under a metal brace between the colorwheel and the lens. it's a 4-sided mirror tube that is glued together, and the glue wears out after a while.
I had a similar issue with my EP739, the problem would start after about 3 or 4 minutes and then get gradually worse and worse.. The most strange thing I noticed was that white looked fine. And if you opened the configuration menu in the projector it appeared that blue was labeled green and green blue.. Some sites suggested cleaning the machine of dust, which I tried using a can of compressed air... This did not fix the problem at first.. but when I had it apart I studied the colour wheel for a little while and wondered if some how the machine was synching to it incorrectly somehow.. So I blew out the colour wheel location sensor (It's kind of obvious being the only component mechanically connected to the color wheel. Much to my delight, this fixed the problem...
So my solution to the flickering / colour fading / colour swapping issue with DLP projectors was to clean out the dust from the colour wheel location sensor..
In fact, if I did it again, I would ONLY clean the sensor, and leave the rest of the dust alone. Blowing dust around has the potential to cause other issues, especially if it winds up inside the optics system.
the colorwheel is going bad and needs replacing. the colorwheel needs to spin fast enough to sync up with the dmd chip. if it cannot, the pic goes bad then off. the flashing is the colorwheel trying to catch up.
