Power off printer
remove paper tray
open front panel
remove both tonor and phto conductor kit (tonor seats inside of that)
inspect inside the printer

Chances are there is a fragment of paper in the right corner near the paper sensor

replace components

Paper jam

  1. Take the paper out of the paper trays. This will prevent any more paper from being drawn into the printer to further the jam.
  2. Remove the cover from the housing of your Lexmark printer. This will expose the inner workings of the printer, and you also should be able to see the jammed paper.
  3. Pull gently on the jammed paper. In many cases this is all that is required; the paper jam should move out slowly and smoothly.
  4. Press the flashing paper jam button. This will allow the rotors to turn freely, which will facilitate the easy removal of the jam.
  5. Unplug your Lexmark printer if the jam persists. This will allow you to pull more firmly without the gears working against you.
  6. Examine the inner workings and confirm that all paper and shreds of paper have been removed. If the paper tore during the clearing, make sure none remains or it will inhibit normal printer function.
  7. Plug the printer back in, refill the paper tray and try to print again.
Thank you.

What is "fuser door open"

Fuser Door Open is the message on the display when it's powered on. I took the back apart, removed the fuser, looked all over. I couldn't see any kind of sensor, optical or mechanical that makes when the door is closed. There's an access plate with a blue latch below the fuser that makes an optical sensor and a mechanical sensor, but that seemed to be OK. It didn't seem like something that would be called a fuser door. So, I pushed on it where it made the mechanical switch and the printer hummed to life and the message went away. I took the fuser out and examined it. The metal brackets where the pivot parts were, seemed a little bent. I straightened them out, stuck it back in and that fixed it.

Turn printer on ERROR comes on screen. Carriage jam Open Door clear carriage jam and then press OK to continue. I do this nothing found in carriage close Error comes up the same?? What to do?

Joe,
Pull all of the paper out of the machine. Look for a wadded up small piece of paper. After you look for it. Examine the door slide tray where paper is stored. Look at take-up rollers... make sure slide drawers close easily...examine door where print cartridge is....Look at (on side) feed tray...Paper feed tray... If you fail get a flashlight and take another look it does not have to be a very large piece of paper...good luck

PAPER JAM PRINTER SAYS PAPER JAM IN INPUT TRAYS BUT PAPER DOES NOT SEEM TO BE JAMMING

Paper jams can be tricky to solve. The paper is usually stuck inside the printer mechanism so even if there is no visible paper jam, you will still get the paper jam error. Try this:

1. Turn off your printer
2. Open all trays and remove any paper stuck there
3. Locate the button to open the printer, open it and remove any paper stuck there also.
4. Repeate the above step for all buttons that you can find to access the inside of the printer
5. Close all doors and put back all trays
6. Turn on your printer

Lexmark t640: paper jam in the back door. I can see the edge of the paper. How do I release the tension on the rollers so I can slide it out? Now it is in there tight and to grab it just tears off a piece...

Hope this helps....
Explanation of the paper jam message

A 241.09 Paper Jam message indicates that the printer thinks a sheet of paper has jammed at the front of the printer. The jammed sheet of paper is most likely to be found in one of the paper trays or under the toner cartridge.
NOTE: If you select Show areas on the operator panel, you can view one or more images to help you locate and clear the jam.

Clearing the jam
To resolve the paper jam message, you must first clear the entire paper path. To access the jam area, you will need to open one or more of the paper trays. Follow the steps in the table below to help you locate and clear the jam.
Step Action Image 1 Open the printer paper tray (tray 1), and remove any jammed media you find there. pattlnk_10222007_1922-enus28872_24109paperjam1_t64x_en_us.gif 2 Open the front cover and remove the toner cartridge. Examine the area inside the printer and remove any jammed media you find there. pattlnk_10242007_159-enus28872_24109paperjam5_t64x_en_us.gif 3 If you have a duplex option installed, also remove the duplex access tray and remove any jammed media you find there. pattlnk_10302007_1559-enus28860_24x17paperjamduplex_t64x_en_us.gif 4 If you were printing from an optional paper tray, such as tray 2 or tray 3, open any optional trays, starting at the top, and remove any jammed media. Pull the print media either up or down. If it does not pull easily one way, try the other way pattlnk_10222007_1957-enus28872_24109paperjam3_t64x_en_us.gif 5 If you are printing from an optional 2000-sheet feeder, open the front door. Press the elevator button (A) to lower the tray. Remove any partially fed media from the feeder.
NOTE: Make sure the stack of print media is straight and pushed all of the way into the feeder. Incorrectly loaded paper is the most common cause of paper jams from a 2000-sheet feeder option.

For a larger image, click here. 6 Finally, reinstall all of the paper trays and press the pattlnk_10222007_2117-select_button.jpg button to try printing again.
NOTE: You may receive a different paper jam message informing you that another sheet of paper is jammed elsewhere in the printer. If this occurs, the error code will indicate the location. Click here for a diagram showing the error code locations. The paper path will vary, depending on the paper source and number of paper feed options installed.
Remove any jammed sheets of paper you find and try printing again.

Paper jam

hey, give this a shot
  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
  3. Also open the back cover of the printer if this model has one.
  4. Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
  5. If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it away from light/ sun light to avoid damaging it.
  6. If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly. The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
  7. If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper. Don't force anything, though. Do this step especially if the jam message comes up repeatedly without any obvious paper jam, there may be a small tear of paper inside.
  8. Ones the printer is free of paper Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
  9. If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Reinspect the paper path.
  10. see alternative if the problem is still not solved.

alternative :
Load a piece of thick paper, for example photo paper and press the resume button (may be diffrent button on diffrent models) a few times to the printer picks up the paper and puts it through the machine.
