You may be using the wrong SMTP address for the Outgoing mail server address for your email service.

If you are not sure what your SMTP Outgoing Mail Server address is, then you can reference this link
below, to locate the Outgoing mail server address of your current email service provider

Link: POP & SMTP Email Server Addresses
---------------------------------------------------------------------
In regards to checking your mail settings in Mac OS X Mail you will need to perform these few steps:

*Launch Mail
• Click on Mail name and select Preferences from
the drop down menu.
• Now select the Account tab.
• Locate your affected email account from the side
bar and from Account Information, make sure
your Outgoing mail server address is correct.
I cannot send mail on my MacBook Pro (Intel) using - 35cc48f.jpg

I am using a .Mac account as an example,
but the same principal applies.

Now if you do find that the Outgoing mail server address for your email service is correct, then the issue may be with the SMTP server for your email service.

One way to determine SMTP functionality however, is to go online and use the web mail page for your email account and send out a test email.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I would also recommend you make sure your Macbook Pro also has the most current version update.

Apple usually has bug fixes in each of their version updates for the Mac OS X Mail application, as well as other built in Mac OS X applications.

If you are still unable to send outgoing mail, contact your service provider to get more assistance and have them check your SMTP server address, authentication and connection with their Outgoing Mail servers.

How to change existing email font to Courier New?

You didn't say which email program you are using, and you didn't mention whether you are running the most recent version of OS X (it's free, so you should upgrade, if you haven't), so we'll go with the current version of Mail. Under the Mail menu, open Preferences. Then, click the Fonts and Colors tab. From there, you can select any font that you have on your computer. You will only have a few choices for fixed-width font, since only certain fonts are actually fixed-width.

Running an iMac and MacBook Pro side by side - have just brought Pro back from overseas where purchased nad am using it on home server for the first time. Can receive messages in Mail but not send from...

i used to run into this when i was in school. im pretty sure its something to do with the server settings allowing non-administered computers that are running on the server to send out connections or mail for some reason. so im guessing the solution would be where ever you created the server from

My email address is [email protected] What is my incoming and out going info. i am setting up my email account in my new macbook pro.

  1. What email program are you using? Entourage (Microsoft) or Mail (Apples pre-installed Mail program).
  2. What is the Postcode of your suburb?
Generally, the mail settings are something like :

POP Settings
  • INCOMING: pop.sbcglobal.net
  • OUTGOING: smtp.sbcglobal.net

OR
  • INCOMING: mail.sbcglobal.net
  • OUTGOING: mail.sbcglobal.net

You can try both of these out. If one of them works, let me know (and rate).

If they don't, then reply back with your postcode number so I can retrieve the settings for you.

I am having a problem with responding to my e mails. I get kicked off every time I try to respond or try to send e mails.

in your e-mail account settings check that your outgoing mail server setup is correct. the mail server will look something like 'mail.host.com'.
check with your e-mail provider if you don't know the mail server settings.

The mail function works fine on my home wireless network, but won't work on the office wireless network. I've occasionally found this problem with some hotel wireless systems. Other internet functions...

the mail is needing two servers to work:
- pop server to get your mail, you can acces to it everywhere
- smtp server to send mail, you can only use it from your home wifi.

To send mail from evrywhere, you had to go on your provider website

PAGE NOT FOUND when on line

It sounds to me like you are using web mail to check your online mail at some service, and that you are using a browser bookmark to get there. The URL in the browser bookmark is misspelled, out-of-date, or otherwise just bad. Find your mail service by working your way down from your mail provider's home page, bookmark that page, and trash your old bookmark.
