Vista OS can't connect wireless to Dlink DI-614+ rounter

I have a DI-614+ rev B, and it's been working fine for a wired computer and 2 wireless computers for a long while. All the computers are running Windows XP. Yesterday, I bought a new laptop that is running Vista, and I can't make the new laptop to connect wireless to the router. But, it is ok if it's wired.Do you know if DI-614+ rev B router supports computer under Visa OS trying to connect to it wireless? THanks!

I brought up the services, and wlan auto configuration was already started. I went ahead and restarted it. It didn't solve my problem.

I could see my network there so it seemed to pick up the list of wireless networks ok. I verified the setup of the wireless network again and again, and the setup was the same as my other wireless computers. Its security type is WEP.

Yes, the wireless switch on my new laptop is turned on. I updated the wireless adapter driver - no luck neither.

Is there other ways that I can try?

    TIA!

Same Problem. Vista reports that I am connection to the DLink 614 but no IP address or am able to route using a static IP address. I found a MS KB 928233, that describe Vista DHCP problems with some routers. Try the fix still does not work. My laptop is using a GW Realtek 8185 wireless. Has anyone goes Vista wireless to work with the Dlink 614 router?

Try naming the wired and wireless networks by different names (Wnetwork for wireless and Lnetwork for LAN) - vista has issues when they are the same as the wired network interface overrides the wireless one and won't allow it to connect

Yes it does but what exactly is this it's your comp that's not connecting to your wireless network..so here try these steps...
first click start>click in start search>in that box type in services>it gives you an option of services on the same start menu at the top click on that...
it will take you to a new screen that says services at the top on that screen you need to scroll down at the bottom and look for wlan auto configuration rt click on it and click start if start is greyed out press restart....
close services down..
click start>click connect to form the start menu> and check it gives your network name in there .if it says anything like no network found in range. pls make sure that wireless switch on your laptop is turned on...
if still you're not able to connectr it's a concern with the drivers of wireless adapter on your comp genrally on new comps its quite common get the drivers reinstalled....

I would start with the simple things first:

1) reseast the ethernet cables
2) change the ethernet cable
3) change to different port on the router
4) uninstall/reinstall drivers
5) run spyware cleaner and anti-virus

DI-524 wireless router as wireless switch

You need to disable the DHCP server on your "slave" wireless router ( the di-524 ). In D-link routers this might be called configuring it to be an "Access point".

When this happens, connecting to the second wireless router should cause your computer to obtain an IP address which is in the range of the first router (that is to say, it will use the first router's dhcp server).

You should be able have your laptop connect with an automatic IP address and have it work.

DI-614+ power on problem

Have you left enough space around your DI-614 to discipate the heat? Maybe it is overheating.

Also, the problem may be with the power supply and not the DI-614 itself. D-Links tends to use the same type of power supply across many models. If you (or a friend of yours) have another DLink device, you may trying using its power supply. Before doing that, make sure that the power supply of your DI-614 and the other one have the same rating. The rating is indicated on a sticker on each power supply.

By the way, opening the cover will void your warranty, if the device is still covered.
