1
Check that the iDog is powered on if it doesn't respond to your commands. Press its nose to activate the toy.
2
Verify that the iDog has fresh batteries installed if the
dog doesn't turn on. Use a Phillips screwdriver to open the dog's
battery compartment, located on the its right back leg. Insert two new
AA-sized batteries according to the "+" and "-" symbols listed in the
compartment.
3
Inspect the iDog's connection to your iPod if it doesn't
move and dance to your iPod's music. Plug the iDog's connector cable
into your iPod. The cable end labeled "B" gets inserted into the
headphone jack on your iPod. The opposite end goes into the front left
leg of the iDog.
4
Make sure your iPod is powered on if the toy is connected to
the media player and is turned on, but not moving to the music. Your
iPod may need recharged by connecting it to a computer with its included
USB cable.
5
Reset the iDog if it continually freezes or stops moving in
the middle of a dance. Use the tip of a pen, paper clip or similar thin
object to press the reset button located on the bottom of the toy's
head.
My neighbor just gave me 1 of these... needed the adapter... 4.5 Volt 800 mA and be sure to get one where you can reverse the polarity if necessary. (polarity is: + ---O---- - ) I had to do some "modifications" to the base as my adapter had an "L" base & wasn't long enough - straight adapter would have been better... Santa wouldn't stop singing/dancing- hmmm. Cleaned the motion sensor lens and then had to cover the modification hole in the base to completely darken the interior of the base. Viola now the motion sensor works... is driving the dog crazy!!

BEFORE YOU BEGIN
? Remove and discard the "Try Me" pull-tab, located on Mickey's right foot next to the battery compartment. Once the TRY ME pull tab is removed, the toy will perform its full play pattern as described below. ? Be sure the ON/OFF switch is in the ON position. The ON/OFF switch is also located on Mickey's right foot, next to the battery compartment.
HOW TO PLAY
There are 2 places where you can press Mickey to begin play: ? LEFT HAND ? LEFT FOOT Press either place to begin play. There are 2 ways to play with Dance Star Mickey: DANCE MODE Press Mickey's foot to see him perform one of 6 different dances! ? TECHNO ? MAMBO ? MOONDANCE ? "SHAKE YOUR GROOVE THING" ? "GET UP OFFA THAT THING" ? "M" TO THE "I" GAME MODE Press Mickey's hand to alternate between 2 games: ? Mickey says Follow along and repeat Mickey's moves - but only when he says "Mickey says!" ? Freeze dance Dance to the beat when Mickey says "Go". When he says "Stop", you freeze in place!
The trick to this is to catch the dog while just playing the music and not while dancing. What this means is that his foot must be down and not moving. Very often he will pause dancing with his foot up, however this is considered "mid-cycle" and he will ignore his stop command. When his foot is down waggle the tail towards his rear. This will produce all but one light turning red and a little beep to indicate him ready for a command. While holding the tail push the nose button for about a second, not long enough to turn him off but more than a quick tap. If his foot is down and music is playing he should respond.
manual says while dog is playing music thru the cable and lights are flashing.... to press down the tail and while holding down tail to press the nose, but on my dog it only works like 1 out of 30 tries. Supposed to see spinning lights if you did it right. If dog growls at you it is not in the right mode (music play) to do this function.
