This maybe naive of me, but have you try to adjust the TING in the screen menu? I dont think this would be a hardware problem on a sony... unless it's a DLP

Green tint on screen especially with dvds. picture also cuts out for a few minutes every hour or so on our sony kds-50a2020

Usually in this set if screen gradually changes to something other than black and white the optical light engine is the problem---major part.

Google the model number with "problems" or "light engine" to learn more.

I have the Sony KDS- 60A2020 60 inch TV. Recently, my picture has appeared more yellowish. Everyone on it looks like there dark yellowish or have fairly dark (bronze) sun tans. I changed my lamp yesterday...

I have a older 2006 SXRD rear projection TV. I had the same problem after the TV warmed up this yellow tint started in the corner and crawled its way down the TV. It turned out that Sony had a recall on the optic block of the TV. If you replaced the Lamp and adjusted the color this kinda sounds like the same problem. Here is a link explaining it. In this article it shows up as a green haze and blob, but in my TV it manifested as a yellow tint.

I have a sony KDS-60A2020 that shows a green tint and can't be adjusted

Hi,

There are 2 common causes of a Green Tinted Picture in Sony 60A2020 and other Sony LCD Rear Projection TVs:

  • HD cables from cable box or other source faulty or not tightly connected.
  • Optical Engine Failure.
This link shows what some Sony Optical Engine Faults look like.

Green tint on sony kds-r5xbr1 rear projection tv. picture in hd is still great looking just green.

What media device are you using and how is it connected?
If its an external device (that is your not using a built in blu ray player or such) and your using compost video (it should be three wires for video, blue, green, and red) check the red wire on both ends. Most of the time this is the problem.
If your using a HDMI cable, or the above does not fix the problem, try replacing the cable.

If its only a slight tinting there should be a setting on your tv for fixing it. (Usualy named Tint)

Sony KDS-50A2000 screen is in green tint

My Sony KDS 50 A2000 is 17 months old. Its the 50 Inch SXRD projection model. About two weeks ago the screen developed a green tint with cannot be tuned out, then a few days later the message began to appear on the screen that the bulb was nearing the end of its life and must be replaced.
Fortunately I have the Circuit City extended warranty.
I called and within just a few days a serviceman came out and replaced the projection bulb.
The Result: No change in the picture, the green tint remains on all channels, so I'm awating the next service call. Under the service warranty they have the option to repair or replace this set. If indeed this is the light engine (optical block) which I suspect and its going to cost $1,000 or more I may be looking at a new set.
When it works this is a great TV, but I have had three Sonys now including two other standard CRT models and now this one joins them in the junk heap, the other two also bit the dust after just about two years. Is it time to give up on Sony?
I know they have a class action suit on a similar model for this same problem. Caveat emptor
