Canon IP4300 - the two black ink cartridges

I have a Canon IP4300. I have run out of ink in the large black cartridge. I have reordered, but in the meantime can I get it to use the ink in the small black cartridge?

The large cartridge is used for text only printing.
The smaller black cartridge is used for black in images such as pictures.

You have a "C (cyan) M (magenta) Y (yellow) and B (black) color system. This actually saves the color inks for you. If the Black was not there, you would need to make a composite black from the color inks.

I set the text to print in dark blue in the meantime until the new larger black ink cartridge is delivered!

The small black has run out how can i change settings so that it uses the big black ink tank?

Having problem with my Canon iP4300 printer which is printing colour but not printing in black.....Please help me.
clean the electrical contacts of the black ink cartridge using a lint free cloth and also the inside of the printer.

this you can do, after unplugging the power cord.
now, plug the power and then insert the ink cartridge. And then check by doing a standalone copy.

If the copy is also blank, try with a new set of blank ink cartrdige.

Hi,

The correct order of install a ink tank (From Left to Right):-

1. CLI-8 Black
2. PGI-5 Black (pigment)
3. CLI-8 Yellow
4. CLI-8 Magenta
5. CLI-8 Cyan

Canon ip4300 color ink empty but I only want black
No, Canon does not have this facility. Also mostly greyscale is not light black but rather a mixcture of the 3 primary colours. You should have a reset/resume button on the printer - hold this in for a slow 5 seconds to de-activate ink warnings per cartridge that is giving alarms. Proceed carefully and only print text that is black so that the colour printheads do not burn out.

Canon pixma ip4300 - magenta ink is recognized but not printing
Take the print head out of the machine and sit it in a saucer of very hot ( just off boil) water about 10mm deep for a minute. Take it out and sit in on a pad of paper towel to dry briefly before returning it and the cartridges into the machine. Give it a deep clean and try again. If still no good, the print head has probably had it.

Black text printing not using large cartridge
Change your setting to plain paper and normal quality.
This printer uses the small black for photos and high qau;ity papers.
Do this and you should be good to go.

New Ink cartridge doesnt work on IP4300.
You have actually bought a dead cartridge as the ink there has dried up.
Either u kept it for long without use or the shopkeeper.
Now what u can do is take a syringe and fill it with luke, warm water and leave it in that stage for half an hour .
Then syringe out the water and allow it to dry in sun for 10 min.
Now fill the ink and u will be going

The small black ink cartridge is the photo black cartridge. If you're not printing any photos that's why it is still full.

Two black cartridges required??
The printer does recognize 2 different catridges. My understanding is that the smaller is specific to photos,
but the larger is used for everyday text and pages.
I would get the cartridge and then wait to see if the printer
won't print photos when small cardtridge is out. If it does
print, pictures may not be good enough for you.
