Hi, I have a Convair TRB portable air conditioner and I dont have an instruction manual. I'm wondering about the drainage outlets on the rear of the unit. The top one (half way down) has a black tube connected to it that runs out the window with hot air duct. The bottom one doesn't have any sort of plug in it and water constantly drips out. My question is "should that outlet be plugged to stop the water draing?" If so where can I get a plug from to fit it?

I have another portable air conditioner (also refrigerated) and it has the bottom drain port plugged. The difference is that my Convair model has a second one with a hose attached (ie it has 2 outlets). I was under the impression that the unit reuses the excess water rather than expelling it.

That is the drainage for the condensed steam from the installation ....if you are bothered by the dropping ..just plug a tube ...and get it somewhere to be collected...it will not have to be covered for any any reason...it assures the well function of the installation ..other wise the whole condensed water (steams) will gather inside and damage it ..

No the bottom hole should not be plugged. the bottom hole is the drain for the condensation. If you plug that hole the water will fill up and damage the unit.

Free standing Convair Supercool leaks like a sieve! We have no manual. Does the small black hose pipe drain the water from the white pipe at the bottom rear of the unit [ where most of the water is coming...

The water is being generated from humidity inside the air. The air conditioner also acts as a dehumidifier. The black line is the drain. The drain line needs to go to an outside line or to a container to collect the condensated water. With low humidity levels, the water will evaporate back into the air. With high humidity, the water is removed from the air at a higher volume than can evaporate back into the air.
