Hi, I have a Uniden cordless, I think a 2.4 ghzt (anyway the "model#" in the battery compartment says "DSS3415+_1"
It has worked faultlessly for over a year but has suddenly stopped working. Others, calling in say that it registers as engaged but it aint and we do not get any rings. When we try to call out, it will respond in the ear peice as dialling the number and then apparently connects but it is just sending me feedback from its own mic i.e. i just hear myself and all background noise... and of course it hasnt connected to anyone???
The vg 100 wont fully install i bought the gateway and a panasonic 1.8ghz cordless kxtg1840. during installation i need to plug in the gateway to complete the installation. the little green icon comes up. the compute says that everything was successfully instald even though the dialog box requesting that skype be accepted never appeared
Hello, While I cannot locate that model in any Uniden database (you might want to find the literature), It sounds as if the handset may be communicating with its base, but you have lost the dial tone. Did any storms pass through recently? Here is what you do. Go to your base and push the locator button on your base station to call the handset via the page/locator function. If it rings the handset and you can answer it okay then you know your handset is working well and communicating with your base (the radio portion is working correctly). If it does not ring your handset then your Uniden is definately bad (radio wise). But, I am going to guess that it is okay but you still cannot communicate with the outside world and dial out to get dial tone or get an incoming call. Okay, so we have a dial tone problem. The next step is to see if dial tone is getting to your base. So you will need to take another good telephone, preferably a handy "line powered" telephone (no batteries or ac adapter needed) you can use in a power failure emergency. Take that good phone and plug it into the phone cord you unplug from your Uniden base. If you get dial tone, then your uniden does need repair. If it does not get dial tone, then you have a bad cord, jack or something in your phone wiring. If thats the case, change cords, look for corrosion, dirt or bent pins in the jack on the wall. My guess is that your Uniden has gone bad, likely from a slight surge on the phone line. If you do need your Uniden repaired you can contact Uniden they are at http://www.uniden.com/repair/service.cfm , however I don't believe they offer repair, but offer to sell you a replacement. Or you can go to www.cordlessrepair.com where you can get your Uniden Cordless unit repaired, not exchanged. Good Luck, CG

Thanks, I have already tried your suggestions before the answer was read and have discovered that the problem is in the line and not with the phone. The cordless works in another socket while an "old school" phone does not fire up in the original line socket.
Thankyou very much for the effort!!
