I removed U3 stuff from my Cruzer micro 2.0GB device some time ago, then reformatted it. Since doing that, whenever I plug the device into a port on any of my machines, I get "This USB device can perform faster if you connect it to a Hi-Speed USB port. For a list of available ports, click here." How can I stop that message from coming up?
...HK
I would like to point out that this must be something the u3uninstall utility did to the usb stick. Mine was working at full speed while I had the U3 stuff on there, and stopped working at full speed in both windows 7 and ubuntu 10.04 after I used the tool. Sorry this isn't a solution, but it's additional info. It's strange it makes it seem like the problem is your OS or drivers and not the usb stick itself, or what the u3uninstall utility did to it.
That all depends on the type of computer you have and if the ports on those computers have USB 2.0 which is classified as the "Hi Speed" USB type for Universal Serial Bus classifications.
The only time you should be getting this type of message is if you are plugging your SanDisk 2G Cruzer Micro flash drive into a USB 1.1 port.
Now considering you have several machines and are using a 2G Flash drive, I am sure you have USB 2.0 ports on your computers.
I would recommend you check your USB ports in Device Manager to make sure they have the latest drivers installed.
Also, if your computers are PCs running a Windows OS like XP, Vista or Win 7. make sure the OS has the latest service pack installed.
Finally, I would also recommend you run the chkdsk command-line utility, to repair the Win OS you are using, as this issue in some cases, has been known to be a software issue with Windows XP for example in regards to the USB device error message you are seeing.
For properly using chkdsk, here is the link from
Microsoft:

This is also another link I want to provide you, for
updating your USB Drivers using DriveFinder.
