Sony Cyber-shot with Magic Gate memory stick

I cannot take photos or delete photos, as I get a message that the disk is write protected: remove the write protection or use a different disk. HOW did it get write protected? and how do I remove it?

    locked by the written word-WRITE PROTECTED, how can I remove this and delete this and use my camera There are two words written on the screen of my camera,WRITE PROTECTED, this is preventing me from using my camera so how will I delete this words so I can use the unit, please help me ,I need to use my camera olympus STYLUS VG-165 it give error writing protecting

There is a switch on the back of the memory stick to lock or unlock switch to unlock.

you can also reset your camera so everything would be deleted in the memory stick.
you can also plug your camera in your computer, access the memory stick and delete everything or the photos you want.

Please format the memory stick using the formatting tool to delete all the contents of the memory stick. This camera does not have the option to select multiple images and then delete them.

As long as the camera is deleting some of the photos, the problem is likely with the memory card. Try another card in the camera and see if it clears properly, and also try inserting the card into your computer and deleting everything via the computer.

1. plug in to pc .. using USB cable..
so that u can delete all photos easly..
2. in cyber - shot u there is a option "mark all "so that u all delete all the files..
3. or another way format the memory card. it will delete all the files..

Take out memory stick, connect camera with PC, go to Removable Disk, go to folder and copy that picture. Simple !

No CF card

The camera body has a tiny switch marked "CF" in one position and Sony's "memory stick" symbol in the other. Apparently I accidentally reset the switch from "memory stick" to "CF" while slipping the camera body into (or out of) its carrying-case. Once I had set this switch from "CF" back to the "memory stick" position, everything worked fine. Solution:  read the user's manual more carefully next time!!
