My toshiba 42h83 tv has sound but no picture

of course check different inputs etc to make sure something did not get disconnected.

This rear projection set uses 3 picture tubes and the set will protect them if there is a problem in the vertical or horizontal sweep circuits that might burn the screens or the damage the tubes.

No simple answer as a lot of different parts are possible for this problem.

WE HAVE A 50H82 PROJECTION TV. THE PICTURE QUALITY IS TERRIBLE (WOBBILY), ALMOST LIKE WHEN YOU NEEDED TO ADJUST THE TRACKING ON A VHS PLAYER. CAN YOU DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM FROM THIS DESCRIPTION?

Most likely the Hyper board is causing the scrambled picture. Very common problem but the boards are no longer available you may try ebay or something for a used one.

My Toshiba 42H83 has a scrambled screen for about 5 minutes when it is turned on, if it has been off for a while. Once it warms up, it works fine. I have replaced the satellite receiver but this did not...

ok, you are talking about lines in the picture, it started where it would clear up after a few minutes but now it will slowly take longer?

I know what is wrong.

Wavy line or scrambled picture when l turn the tv on it takes 30mins for the picture to come in clear

If you have a normal picture with lines through it, or if the picture jumps, tears or rolls, you have a Hyper Board that is failing. The last I checked, the Hyper Board is not available from Toshiba and has not been available for a number of years.
I hope this helps,
