thanks very much for responding I'm agreeing it probly needs a new disk drive but had a couple last questions before buying one...first one is when my xbox screen comes up when you turn it on it used to say microsoft underneith the xbox the microsoft is not there just says xbox then goes to menu page. the other is my power pac cord is loose and i can see the wires there are a few wires in there i can see one of them is pulled apart i was woundering if the differnt wire went to power difernt things and if that wire my be a factor in my problem/ i do not have any error lights on the power pack though. thanks again.thanks very much for responding I'm agreeing it probly needs a new disk drive but had a couple last questions before buying one...first one is when my xbox screen comes up when you turn it on it used to say microsoft underneith the xbox the microsoft is not there just says xbox then goes to menu page. the other is my power pac cord is loose and i can see the wires there are a few wires in there i can see one of them is pulled apart i was woundering if the differnt wire went to power difernt things and if that wire my be a factor in my problem/ i do not have any error lights on the power pack though. thanks again.

Microsoft did have a recall on the power pac you might want to check if your was part of that. the wires should be connected to a plug or hard soldered in so if it was wrong i would expect it not to work at all.Microsoft did have a recall on the power pac you might want to check if your was part of that. the wires should be connected to a plug or hard soldered in so if it was wrong i would expect it not to work at all.

You need to either replace the drive with a working drive or replace the laser within your current drive. If you change drives you will first need to obtain your dvd-key and then flash it into your new drives firmware.
this is a problem the microsoft has been working on ... remove any disc from the tray> unplug it from all power the plug it back in> open the disc tray .. leave it open for a little while like 10-15 seconds .. then put the game in and it should work .. if it does not however you have one of the defected disc trays and you'll need to get it repaired by microsoft .. i know its not what you want to hear but hey at least they will fix it free of charge =]
Since CDs and CD-R's work fine, its probably that the disc tray of your xbox 360 is not working. you might wanna try contacting xbox customer support to check the warranty status of your console. might as well send it in for repairs
To clear the cache on the Xbox 360 do the following:
* Go to the Xbox Dashboard, select the System Blade, and select Memory. * Highlight the HD symbol and press Y. * Press X, X, Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X, X.
You will see a confirmation message to confirm system maintenance, proceed.
Clearing the cache on the Xbox 360 is a fairly simple process, and can be useful if the system seems sluggish, unresponsive, or you just need to get rid of a game update (for whatever reason).
The most important part of clearing the cache is knowing what to expect. All downloaded game updates will be removed. So if you have downloaded an auto-update for a game, in order to play it on Xbox Live you will need to re-download it.
User game saves, profiles, demos, videos, etc. are not deleted during the process.
theres a known problem with the hitashi dvd drive in the xbox 360.
the only solution to this is a home repair job, look up on youtube on how to do this, although this isnt recommended as it voids warranty.
so the best way is definitely just to ring microsoft and send ur console in for repair.
