It's most likely a locking point to fit a Kensington type security system to lock the monitor to the desk.
Does anything happen at all when you switch it on?

What is the key lock on the back of vizio 20 LCD monitor for and called

The slot adjacent to the Lock symbol is for a Kensington slot adapter. You can connect a cable to the adapter and lock the monitor to a table (for example). The Kensington versions involve a T-adapter which directly connect to a lock and cable. There are also scissor clips which fit into the slot and let you thread a cable or padlock through a hole in them. Then you secure the cable or lock.

Some examples: http://www.computersecurity.com/computer-lock/computer-security-cable-locks.htm , http://www.amazon.com/Kensington-Microsaver-Monitor-Monitors-K64529US/dp/B000QJ3I90 .

I hope this helps.

I removed the clips that hold the rear panel on and can not figure out how to reinstall them

Hi! They simply push down into the rectangular holes. Place the end with the 90 degree bend back into the slots in the rear panel. The end of the tab faces up on the outside of the panel. Push the rear panel forward against the back of the washer until the rounded ends of the clips get above the rectangular holes on the deck. Push the clip down into the holes. It should snap and lock in. Hope this helps!

Ho do I open the PL913 monitor s as I remoce the screws

That hole is for the Kensington anti-theft locking. You need to start at the bottom edge of the monitor, it can be very difficult sometime since a lot of them do not have slot to put a screw driver in to crack it open. Try youtube on 'How to openLCD monitor case'.

On an OKI C3400 the alarm lights blinks amber once a second. Cannot print status page. Replaced black toner and drum and re-installed other colors with no change.

THIS SOLUTION IS FOR AN OKI C3400N ONLY

As I'm sure you know, that blinking amber light indicates that:
  1. A toner lock is not fully "locked", or
  2. A toner is empty, or
  3. A drum is empty or near empty
The first question should be what does your C3400 monitor software tell you is wrong? I am assuming it said the black toner and/or drum needed to be changed - so you are fairly certain it is the black that is where the problem is? You may also have run the report from the printer that you get by pressing the "On-line" button and seen what is failing.

Assuming that is the case, and one or both of these signals an empty black toner, the problem may be in the new black toner cartridge. You can try this:
  1. Make sure the toner "lock" on all toners is fully engaged - assuming they are

  1. Open the top
  2. Lift out the entire black assemble including the toner and drum components.
  3. Keeping the assembly in the same orientation as you lifted it out, look on the RIGHT end.
  4. You should see two metal contact points, near the top at about the same level as the top of the toner.
  5. Just below these contact, you should see a small, rectangular hole - about 1/4" square.
  6. If you look in there you may see what looks like a small piece of black plastic that covers the hole from inside.
  7. If so, take a small pointed object (like a bent paper-clip) and gently reach in the hole and touch the small plastic piece on the inside that is covering the hole.
  8. You should be able to gently lift that piece of plastic UP.
  9. You may have to try lifting it a time or two, but it should stay UP if you have a new black toner installed.
  10. Once you have it UP carefully reinstall the assembly.
  11. Close the top and let the printer recycle.
  12. You may need to try this a couple of times to get the plastic to stay up on your new toner.
So you understand, here is what may be happening. That little piece of black plastic actually sits in line with a sensor in the printer that monitors toner / drum levels. When a new toner is placed in, that piece of plastic should be UP, so the sensor can monitor the level. As the toner gets used, the plastic liece gradually falls down until it completely blocks the sensor - indicating the toner is empty. That is how the monitoring software knows how to signal you.

This has worked for me several times - most especially when I tried using non-OKI OEM 'compatible" toners - but no guarantees this will help you

A lock symbol appears

Hello. On this Dell flat panel the menu access appears to be locked, if the lock symbol you are referring to is from the monitor itself.

You should be able to lock or unlock the OSD by pushing and holding the Menu button for 15 seconds.

Black screen

Depending on what kind of laptop you have, your button may look different. Look at the Function keys (all those keys up at the top that have F's in front of them) and see if there is another colored symbol on any of them. You should find a colored symbol that looks like a rectangular monitor.

Press another key toward the bottom of your keyboard that probably says "Fn" or some other kind of "Function" key - not Alt, Ctrl, or Shift. Hold that Fn key down while you press the first key you found that looks like a monitor. That will change your laptop video output mode between several different modes like: laptop LCD panel only; LCD panel and external monitor; and external monitor only.

The purpose of this is if you wanted to plug another monitor into the back of your laptop, or a projector for a meeting or presentation, etc.

Monitor problem

Odd. The manual doesn't mention anything about that. It almost sounds like one or more control buttons is partially shorted or leaky. That can happen if a foreign substance got in it or it was stored in an unheated garage or shed for a long time, etc.
