My father-in-law has a 15 year old 52 inch projection TV. Worked fine yesterday, when he turned it on today it wouldn't come on. I noticed the light on the power button flickers when pressed, instead of showing solid green... other than that, no signs of life. He wants to get it repaired, my wife is pressing him to buy a new HDTV. Is it worth repairing?

I have a 52" RCA

sounds like the power supply capacitors CP150, CP120 and CP114 need replacement. You can get the RCA repair kit by that same name from www.tvrepairworld.com which has the caps and the CD with repair instructions.

I had the same problem which got fixed today. It was a loose connection to the power supply unit that required some soldering by a technician and cost me 56$. My TV works after 2 months.

If you hear the Lamp fan turn, it is probably the lamp it self that has failed. If you do not hear the lamp fan turn then the fan could be bad or binding.

Have the input signal board replaced. Might try also replacing the digital board assembly.

Tv turning off by itself occasionally

Just had mine repaired yesterday.

They relaced a TD4611 voltage regulator and a C2200uf 50v part.

Total including service call $188.00 in Western Canada.

Its worth replacing if the image is still bright and clear when last seen it will definitely be cheaper than buying a new one, but if the picture is kind of dull then definitely get a new one other wise u will fix one thing and by the next 3 months or so u would have another problem
