jlucasv79, Hi there. 12fixlouie here. Did you make positively certain that unit is receiving power from wall outlet? Are all of the cable connectors properly seated in their sockets? We here at fixya also need a little bit of what is called UNIT HISTORY so that we can understand the problem and render some advice to you. How old is the unit, or better still, can you approximate the total amount of "ON" hours the unit has? Is the unit still covered by SONY warranty? Did it work perfectly just prior to not responding to pushing the "ON" button. Is unit connected to wall outlet with only a line cord? or does unit have "lay on floor" black brick switch-mode-power-supply? Did you verify your pc is working with a KNOWN GOOD monitor? Need you to do additional information to original posting. My best guess is that your unit has a bad ac to dc power supply that is in full shutdown mode, and will need to be serviced. 12fixlouie just north of windy city. bye for now.jlucasv79, Hi there. 12fixlouie here. I f you see the message on the screen indicating 'NO INPUR SIGNAL', you need to check the VGA cable and both ends of the connectors also. Try this monitor with other PC also.
This SDM-HS73/93 have common problem: bad backlight assemblies due to poor workmanship in sodlering works, see my pictures below. You should also inspect the caps. This is not recommend for DIY.
At this point you may have bad transformers, bad tuning cap, you need to check the frequency of the inverter oscillator to see if both of them are running at the same frequency, the bad one may not be. The Inverter/power supply is not made by SONY, Powernet makes the board. Please see what went wrong with the one I fixed. http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/Sony%20SDM-HS73/
One thing to keep in mind, when the board turn into carbon (blacken), it will conduct. The circuits operate at high voltage and high frequency.
there may some spike(voltage goes above 1000v for few microsecond) come from electricity board
which may damaged colors ic you have to replace it and connect spike arrester before pc
