Hoover Troubleshooting Brush Not Spinning Changing The Belt On Your Dual...

1.Remove bottom tank and look for pinched hose. 2.Use small screwdriver or toothpick on small holes which disperse solution-remove rotating brush first. These were problems with my steamvac (f5861-900 model).

Chances are that the rubber drive belt has perished... A trip to ebay should find a suitable belt fairly cheaply

Follow these steps if the Brushes Fail to Spin
•If the brushes on your Hoover carpet cleaner fail to spin, there may be a problem---some sort of blockage---with the suction or with the belt that turns the brushes.
Turn the Hoover carpet cleaner over, and inspect the brush area. Debris, strings, or pet hair may be tangled in the rollers, keeping them from turning. Use a pair of scissors to cut away any obstructions in this area. Flip the Hoover carpet cleaner back over, and turn it on to see if cleaning the rollers has solved the problem.
To check the belt, turn the Hoover carpet cleaner over, and remove the bottom plate screw with a Phillips head screwdriver. Investigate the belt area to see if it is broken or has somehow slipped off. If it is broken, you can order a part from Hoover.com or from many of the other online parts stores.
When the belt arrives, simply slide it on in place of the broken belt, reattach the bottom plate and turn the Hoover carpet cleaner right-side up. Turn it on to test your solution.

(1) Assure the Brush Control on the hood is NOT set to the OFF position.
(2) Remove the brush assembly by pulling/unlatching it from base on each side.
(3)Does one of the brushes have the drive pin present? It should be about ¼ inch square, and two inches long. It attaches the brushes to the drive mechanism

the belt has streached go to walmart and get a new one.

The brushe until needs to be snapped in very hard; to line up correctly. Pull the unti off and put it back in, good luck.

I just needed to clean the brushes I finally just found the clips on each side of the brush roller and pressed in towards center and was able to pull brushes out.

Take out the brush block, make sure that the shaft is ok, it goes up into the turbine, which is what drives the brushes. If the shaft is ok, then the turbine either needs to be cleaned and lubed, or replaced.
