Question about Canon CanoScan FB620P Flatbed Scanner

1 Answer

Scanner WORKS but still "not installed" with XP FB620P drivers.

I've installed the latest Canon FB620P drivers, etc, into Windows XP sp3; and the scanner WORKS, but the hardware does not display in XP as "installed". System "device manager" displays scanner as "unknown device". I've tried everything! XP re-finds the scanner as "new hardware" with each boot.

I'd already done that, and XP lists the Canon driver; but at the end, Hardware Update Wizard said: "The class installer has denied the request to install or upgrade this device".

So I right-clicked on the "unknown device" PROPERTIES in system hardware and saw: "sti_ci.dll,ClassInstall".

I'm sure the classInstall can be changed, but I don't know how to do that.

This morning I became aware that my a-v software is unhappy with the unsigned non-MS files and is doing some blocking...I disabled, etc.

Meanwhile, I'd also dittled with the various parallel port modes in the BIOS but ended up with the original SPP setting which worked at first but doesn't today.

If I try to run XP in Win98 compatibility mode will that help?

I may just reinstall Win98SE on this computer...My 12 year old scanner is in perfect condition and performs beautifully when it's not rejected.

If you have the drivers cd, you can try to click on the unknown device in the device manager and then select update the driver by right clicking on the device and then force XP to look at the install cd for the device. It sounds like you are very knowledgeable with computers, so I will not go into great detail, but the device should be “found” by XP if the device drivers are installed in the systems directory.
One thing that I have done in the past is to uninstall and reinstall the device via the control panel or the manufactures install, repair, and remove option.
I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

I have a Plustek OpticFilm 7600i SE film scanner. Every time I try and load-up the setup disc, the set up install starts and then comes up with this error message: An error (-500 : 0x8004ace8) has...

It is quite possible that there is another piece of software that is clashing with your Plustek OpticFilm scanner. It is hard to tell which software is having a clash. If you remove that software from your system you will obtain the desired results. I suspect the SP3 of Windows XP may be responsible for this because Microsoft has indicated that Windows XP SP3 is not for everyone. If you install Windows XP SP2 uninstalling XP SP3 your problem can definitely be rectified.
Good Luck!

Canoscan Lide 30 compatibility with Windows 7.

There are no official drivers for CanoScan Lide 30 for Windows XP, so your problem is obvious. I suggest you sending an e-mail at Canon including details about your scanner (date purchased, serial number in text form or scanned) asking them to develop driver set as this model is very trade and at shops since 2006 or 2007.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post.

Hp5300c scanner-can't use HP software on new PC (XP Pro SP3)

Are you using the software from HP? It sucks. If the HP software is not working correctly, then Use the one provided my your operating system works great. Go your Control Panel, Printer and other Hardwares and click Scanners, make a shortcut to your task or start menu and Scan Away. For Faxes, etc. import in outlook or other email client, etc.
