Sanyo 5-cup Micom rice cooker, no power

Our Sanyo 5-cup Micom rice cooker doesn't work any more. No response to Menu button and Start button, as if there is no power. Clock related buttons still work. I want to repair it, but cannot open the bottom...

I had the exact same problem with my rice cooker. I took the lid apart. There was a broken wire because of the constant friction of the hinge when open and close the lid. After I soldered it, it started to work again.

    I was able to fix it with a little effort.
    To open the rid was a heck.
    But not too bud.saved me about a hundred dollars!

    thanks for posting this. I was scratching my hair trying to figure out what could be the problem. Very close to ordering a new rice cooker for a replacement

Sanyo ECJ-D100S Micom 10-Cup Rice Cooker stop working. Just use couple hours ago before it stop working. It is 5, 6 years old, looks like there's no power, only clock. All buttons do not response...
I have the same problem today. I'm lucky to find this thread and fix the problem. The cooker have two broken wires. The good news is that one wire is black and the other is yellow. If both were yellow, I might have to figure out which one connects to which.

There is no power when plug in,only the clock is working.
My suggestion is to contact Sanyo Product Support. This problem could be an issue with the internal power supply. They should be able to help you directly. Here is the link to their support site:

Hello I had a similar problem with that same cooker, there is a power IC with readings AC05E that controls the screen and the power of the rice cooker. Get a replacement of that ic and you are good to go.

Rice cooker keep feature turns rice crispy
This sounds like the thermostat inside the unit has went out and is overheating whitch in turn is cooking your rice too fast and too hot! if the thermostat is replaced it will cook the rice even again!
