Fridge and freezer not cold enough since we moved

I have a whirlpool gold side by side. We move 3 months ago and just plugged in the refrigerator in our new home. Neither side gets cold enough, changing the settings doesn't do anything. A moving company moved the fridge. It was in storage for 3 months. Just plugged it in and it doesn't cool properly. Thanks.

Remove the panel at the reaar of the freezer. you should have a full frost pattern on your evaporator (frosted not snow packed) and the fan should be running. if you do not have a full frost pattern then you have a sealed system leak. covered under the first five years of your warranty

Whirlpool side by side Fridge Freezer S20BRBB20

Your fridge is simply not defrosting itself or moving air off the freezer coil. Try defrosting it and make sure the fan is operating. If the brains have been replaced already i do not think you should have to deal with them again unless consumer reports suggest otherwise.

Water underneath the freezer section

Please check for the water passage beneath the freezer. There will be a small pipe and there is a possibility that that pipe path is blocked with ice or dirt.

Top shelf not cold whirlpool gold side/side

If you can check the back wall of the freezer where the evaporator is. If you notice that it is starting to ice up, (which by your description I'm sure you will), the most likely cause of your problem is lack of defrost. This can be caused by a couple of different things, ie. bad heater element, of limit switch, or the most common bad defrost timer. Hope this helps

Fridge is not cold and freezer is not cold

f the refrigerator isn't cool, you need to answer some questions, then see if the compressor is running.

First, answer these questions:

  • Is the refrigerator completely dead? If so, see “It's stopped completely.”

  • Is the thermostat knob turned to the proper setting? If not, reset it.

Next, see if the compressor motor is running

The compressor is a football-sized case with no apparent moving parts. It's on the outside of the refrigerator at the back near the bottom. If it is humming or making a continuous noise and your refrigerator is still not cooling, there may be a more serious problem with one or more of several different components, we recommend contacting a qualified appliance repair technician for further help.

If the compressor is not running but you do have power to the refrigerator, there may be a problem with one or more of these:

  • The compressor

  • The Thermostat

  • The overload, relay, or capacitor

  • The defrost timer

  • The condenser fan motor
