Doesn't heat and dryer light no longer works

I have a maytag ensignia electric dryer md# MDE6657BYW (could not find in the dryers list and the atlantis looks the closest). The dryer worked fine on Friday and then ceased heating altogether and the light doesn't work anymore. I have checked the breakers and gci throughout the house and all are good. Any ideas on where I should start to trouble shoot to fix. Thanks for the help!

You pop the top using a putty knife and remove the front.
The element is mounted in the rear and is held in place by 2 screws. The thermal fuse and high limit are also mounted on it.themobilian_2824.jpg

Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

Maytag ensignia electric dryer makes alot if

I had a squirrel(?) stuck in mine! I removed the lint pipe and it was really nasty. Something had chewed through the screen and climbed down the pipe to stay warm?? We live in Minnesota and it was cold as heck. Anyway, Have a shop vac ready, I hope this helps. Remove pipe at the dryer, push start a couple of times and see if anything blows out. K.J.

Dryer has no heat on any setting after house fuse blew.

We got the problem with our dryer figured out. After checking possible solutions on-line, we checked the power going into the dryer with a ohm tester and discovered we weren't getting full power that we expected. Just after changing the fuses in the house the first time we heard a snap sound but the fuses appeared to be fine, but no heat to the dryer. When we discovered we weren't getting full power we used the ohm tester to test the fuses indiviually and discovered one of the fuses were bad. Put in a new fuse and wala! the dryer is putting out heat. Thank you so much for the service you provide to "do-it-yourselfers" like us!
