To install the tomtom or route 66 software(better on a 4gb memory card if you don't want motorways or have a very long journey)-can run out of space to calculate route. To install the software you have to drag and drop each file individually and by each file i mean open each of the 6(i think) files on the disk and drag and drop each file from them,I would use an external card reader as i found there was certain chinese possible viruses on the disk which messed up my laptop.
personally i think the route 66 is alot better and upto date, the tomtom software is wrong on the postcodes, my old postcode in leicester when put in gave me a street 3 streets away from where it should have been. i have used route 66 do get from kings lynn to suffolk no probs, even found a very small row of houses right in the middle of nowhere to pick up an ebay purchase.the 2007 software on a navgo is actually more upto date than a ford in car satnav 2007. i have a new road about 3 miles long which i have and my dads satnav doesn't.
anyone need a new one and with tiscali- look out they have it on offer sometimes
The date and time settings.....ignore that it says GMT...actually click on it to change it to something else, then the correct one and tick the daylight saving box.
Make sure the SD card with Tom-Tom software has been inserted correctly and you are doing all this set-up outdoor, not inside a structure.
1st way of doing this: Inside the unit options you will have to choose the option for: (Tom-Tom Wired GPS Receiver) and this will get you the signal instantly. Here is how: click on the left upper icon (Navigation), then click on right bottom (look like stairs), then click on the right upper button (satellite), then button (configure), then choose Tom-Tom Wired GPS Receiver, select it. That?s it!
2nd way of doing this: If there are no signal: first of all in the main Tom-Tom Menu choose Change Preferences, after that will Show GPS status, then press Configure in the new window, select your GPS receiver "Other NMEA GPS receiver", GPS baud rate 4800 and then select the one COM that will give you the fastest connection overall (COM7 is preferred one).
Go outside
