It flashes even when I plug in the AC adapter. Now when I plug in a battery with the AC adapter to charge the battery, the battery charge indicator light will not come on and the Camera/Play/Edit lights continue to flash on and off. Help!!!???? This sounds similar to a problem I had. I brought the camera in under warranty and the repair shop fixed it. They shop text is cryptic.
Problem: Camera light keeps flashing, not charge
Solution: Troubleshoot to intermittent switch block control, replace with new one, test OK.

Unfortunately, the original software is not available for download. However, you can use i.LINK interface and use the Windows Movie Maker available in the Windows to transfer videos from the Camcorder.

Sony handy cam dcr-hc20 in the display top right corner keeps flashing E:61:00 AND WONT DO ANYTHING ELSE

Error code 61:00 indicates a problem in the focus mechanism. The most likely cause for this is a lens out of place or impaired in some way. This will require disassembling camera to remove the lens block and then disassembling the lens block to repair. This can be done fairly inexpensively. However, it's not really a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

Black and white playback with sony handycam dcr-hc20

There is no problem on your camera, DCR-HC19E is PAL system(European system) DCR-HC20 is NTSC(American system). Are you in US or Europe? I think your TV is NTSC, cause the tape recorded on DCR-HC19E you played has no color. To confirm, connect your HC20 to TV in camera mode, not recording yet, just look at the TV as your monitor, If its in color, no problem, just erase the old video recorded on the HC19E, but if its important to you, you can convert it to NTSC using a PC. thanks
