Check the fan. it maybe faulty and if it does not spin freely, then replace the faulty fan.
While you are fixing the fan, remove and vacuum the dust off the heat-sink assembly.

Usually that message indicates the CPU fan has stopped spinning for some reason..Possibly needs to be replaced.

SOURCE: t30 fan error

Hi,

Well, the fan is either unplugged from it's socket, froze up, or completely clogged with dust, etc and is giving the bios reason to shut down.

Also tho, tell me, does the time and date keep needing to be reset?

Could be a cmos battery. Some of the older thinkpads were like that, although my T30 has never shown this problem.

Good luck

Ibm t30 boots with error 1820, unauthorized minipci card, remove and reboot

Updating the BIOS firmware will not lose any data on your hard disk.
If the BIOS update is not installed properly or malfunctions then the T30 may stop working unless you can roll back the BIOS update.

When booting up the screen displays FAN ERROR

Is the fun running? you can first confirm that before you alter anything in the Bios. touch on the fun air exit point you will feel it if its running.

Thinkpad T30 Error 1802 from Verizon modem..Now won't boot past error message even without modem plugged in. Help

The 1802 error is ussually caused by an "unsupported" wireless card being installed. check out this site for a fix that has worked for me on a couple Thinkpads (including the one I'm writing this message on) to allow unsopported wifi cards to work.

I bet your hard drive crashed on you. You might have to buy yourself a new hard drive and replace your old one with it. Then format it and install a fresh copy of your Operating System on it. Your error condes here indicate to me that you either got a blue screen or similar. Blue Screens and/or the code that you stated here are usually caused by a software issue, and are rarely hardware issues. But in this case, you may have gotten something bad on your computer, such as a virus or serious spyware, that wiped out your Operating System And caused your hard drive to crash/become corrupt. As I mentioned, try replacing your hard drive. Hope this helps.

T30 boot problem

Sorry, but probably your T30 (my favorite Thinkpad) has developed a problem with one of it's memory slots. It is an inherent problem with the Thinkpads. The way to tell is topress on the memory cover in a way that pushes the memory (or more to the point, the memory slots) into the motherboard. While keeping pressure on the memory, try to boot up. I use a T30, and have worked on several others, all have at least one slot with this problem. Also try taking out the memory which is closest to the front of the system, and pushing in on the remaining one. Hope this helps. If this is the problem, there are a couple of things you can do to keep it running, but probably with only one ram stick. Goood luck
